As much as I want to just say, "Lol, Kali," the NCAA is a fricking racket.

I’d like kids in college being allowed to capitalize on their own likeness. Straight up paying players gets tricky...they become employees at that point and what happens when a kid is struggling? Fired and scholarship revoked?

It’s ironic because California thinks they’re doing this for the players but getting those schools banned doesn’t help any of those student athletes.

frick California, and all that good stuff, but they are getting this one right. The NCAA is the shite head here.

This might be the beginning of the end for the NCAA if it is allowed to happen.

The NCAA is right. If/when they "crack the door" on amateur compensation you can kiss amateurism goodbye.

No, they are not

Money is fungible
Degree is not fungible

While I do think the NCAA needs to be fixed, knocking the corporations (advertisers) out and bringing some things back to reality is the smarter and long term move.

If you pay players in cash, it means that can be siphoned off by lawyers, street agents, and fat little girlfriends. If you pay them in benefits like degree and health care it all goes to the players. Some things the NCAA can do tho to bring some sanity back.

#1 Scholarships means kids can go till they get a degree
#2 NCAA becomes the insurance pool for kids getting hurt (loss of future income)
#3 NCAA becomes the insurance pool for health benefits for all athletes

I agree, but then you have retards who chant, " SEC! SEC! SEC!" when they are literally no better.

If amateur athletes feel its unfair, they don't have to play under the NCAA either. IMO they can profit off of their likeness, but they dont deserve shite as an amateur student athlete.

Again, a small handful of college programs actually turn a profit. Beyond an equal stipend for all athletes, there is no way to pay certain players.

It's not like they ever challenged for any championships, so no real loss.

But, can we use this to get rid of the corrupt NCAA and move to a better structure?

Please do this. My guess is the NCAA backs down just like they did w/ the transfers. Keep giving them an inch and we might as well get athletics out of education.

Just create a minor league for the NFL and leave college football alone.

I don’t know Bill or what’s ailing him, but I’ll be praying for him and hope that he’s able to pull through.

I don't really care.

College football is the system we have right now. If guys don't want (or need) to go to college, let them mature somewhere else.

I love how everyone here is pretending that Power 5 College Football is "amateurism"

For all of you that want the NCAA to dissolve, you'll wish it didn't happen if it were to happen. Governmen,t at any level, has no place in amateur sports. No question the NCAA needs better leadership at the top, but if it goes away you can kiss college sports as we know it today, goodbye.

Problem is the PAC doesn't have any leverage. They are easily the worst Power 5 conference in football.
