I've been going to athens for decades and lived there for 5 years and I can honestly say I've never heard of a "gay bar" there.

Maybe pavo just knows the underground scene better than the rest of us?

Best is LSU (unless you're a Bama fan).
2nd is Tennessee
3rd is Auburn

Worst is Florida
2nd worst is Alabama

It has nothing to do with the stadiums and everything to do with the fans that inhabit them. I don't understand how Auburn fans can be so awesome and hospitable while Alabama fans can be such a$$holes.

UT is in the midst of a pretty area. the campus, however, is the worst one I've been on in the SEC.

Main campus is bad...AG Campus is really nice. Still, I would put UT near the bottom of the SEC, merely because there is virtually no separation between the campus and downtown Knoxville.

It's because there's no difference. Both fanbases are friendly in general (as are most teams' fans), it's just that you hate Bama. So you want a reason to justify yourself.

This. Pre 2007 I’m sure the tables were flipped due to cigar smoking on the field blah blah

I hate schools where you can't really tell where the city ends and campus begins.

What I like about schools like msu, ole miss, Georgia, auburn is the school is distinctly seperate from the city.

UT isn't the most beautiful campus by any stretch, but the immediate area that overlaps with it and the social activities that it offers 18-22 year old college students is light years ahead of what you have at places like Starkville, Oxford, Auburn, etc. There's plenty of pros and cons to both.

Well you should love LSU's campus then because just North of campus is a ghetto and just south is shitty apartments. You definitely know the moment you get on LSU's campus.

I disagree. I don't care for a college campus in the middle of a huge downtown area, but I think it is cool when the campus and college town connect. One of the best aspects of the Arkansas campus is that you could be a student in a dorm or in a greek house and walk to and from bars, restaurants, coffee shops, etc.

Athens is this way, so I don't think Georgia should be on your list.

Fayetteville has had a gay bar since at least the late 1980s. At a few points in time, we've had more than one.

You mean that in other SEC towns, the gays just walk into regular bars and drink right alongside people?

Of the places I've actually been:
(LSU, aTm, Bama, UGA, Tenn, MSU)

Sticking to just campus aesthetics :
1. LSU
2. UGA/Bama
3. Tenn
4. MSU
5. aTm

Adding the cities/town:
1. UGA - not even close
2. Tenn
3. LSU/Bama
4. aTm
5. MSU

Been to all except the columbias. Not counting LSU bc I'm biased I'd rank them:

1- UGA
2- Bama
3- Arky
4- Ole Miss
5- Vandy
6- Aubie
7- Florida
8- Kentucky
9- Tennessee
10- Aggie
11- Moo State

Aggie too high.

State's campus is quaint and well-ordered compared to College Station. The coolest thing about A&M's campus is how vast it seems. You see these giant spread out buildings from far off and it feels intimidating. Too much brutalism and few interesting topographical features. It feels like a military base from certain angles. They should start over.

I lived in Fayetteville for 6 months, and while a beautiful town, Arky’s campus is ugly as shite. The buildings are just awful. They’re all over the place and don’t consist of a constant tone. I’d easily put LSU over them.

And Bama over us?

And while I disagree with UGA being over us, I can see the argument.

That's a bit strong. It's divided into 3 sections.

Central campus, around Old Main is limestone gothic.

South/McElroy Hill is buff brick, mostly modernist, but there are a few trad buildings thrown in there, and the Greek Theatre.

North campus is red brick. Greek houses are dispensed on three different streets, with a variety, almost all classical styles.

It isn't the "red brick and columns" theme that a lot of southern schools follow, and we have a good, er "highly regarded" architecture school, so you'll always see modernist buildings, from any given time. Plus, the big windows up high actually serve a purpose when your campus is on top of a plateau with highlands in every direction. There are views and vistas from our campus that are worth looking at.

lol, you can pick on Starkville all you like but MSU has one of the nicer campuses in the SEC, either your boyfriend was acting an arse when you were there or you are just tasteless.

Vandy, UTK, and A&M are by far the worst.
