Well either Odom has a thin skin or they didn’t get along that great. I would hope it would take more than Elarbee being less than professional in his exit process for Odom to take a public shot at him.

Probably a mixture of both

Odie seems easily butt hurt... Elarbee saw a chance to better himself and took it..... Just didn't go about leaving the right way.

Elarbee stated that he was going to be on the staff and left two days later which also happened to be the day that 4 offensive linemen were arriving for official visits. I'm fine with Odom having an issue with that. I am also fine with Elarbee advancing his career. It's a business, and sometimes business gets dirty.

Now the guy that put together a really good offensive staff has to replace some guys.

Elarbee got the call, wants to advance his career, and didn't have long to think about it before Heupel moved to his next guy. He took the job.

Why do you presume that he had a problem with Odom other than not being considered for OC?

I didn't realize Elarbee's phone only worked on incoming calls.

Either they had a rift or Elarbee is a complete a-hole for not making a two-minute phone call to the man who gave him the job he's resigning from.

I agree with that. Baseline expectation.

Right. We all understand this is a business. Nothing wrong with leaving for a better spot but do it the right way.

Some real bad blood between Odom and Ellarbee, it would be interesting if y'all get UCF in a bowl game next year.

He left without addressing his room. Do you think there is a rift between the coach and his room?

No.

He left that way because he didn't want to have to explain that in the end they weren't more important than his career progression. I honestly don't have a problem with it. It's a business and if you want to lead your own program you have to make tough decisions. This is one of many he will have to make and own along the way.

He had a right to advance his career, but he should have been a stand-up team guy and told his boss and addressed the team, especially the o-line. People had a problem with Haith leaving the way he did and they should, but don't give this non-team guy an excuse.

He was gone the second he told Heupel he'd take the job. I don't think Frost to going to coach UCF in their bowl game. As such Elarbee has a game to coach vs Auburn in 23 days and an entire two deep he knows nothing about. He wasn't going to hang around for a sob session with the oline room. Get real.

Haith ran out the door because NCAA investigations were coming. Terrible comparison.

Mike Anderson is a better comparison. He told everyone including his players that he was staying, only to leave a few days later.

Odom is an emotional guy, so it’s going to be easy to see what he really thinks about whatever he’s talking about.

He was obviously happy that Huepel got his job. He also wasn’t happy with the way Elarbee left, not that he left.

His boss was Odom unless his contract had run out. Be a standup guy and inform your former boss(BO) and o-linemen that you are leaving. That's what a real man would do and then go take care of your business.

Haith was exonerated of any wrongdoing or being associated with any wrongdoing. We all know who the shady one on the staff was.

Maybe. But he said he didn’t care he was gone. That seems like it’s more than just how he left.

He think you are reading too much into this.

UCF OC made less last season than what Elarbee made at Mizzou.

Yea I could be. The rift between BO and Kul was known from the time BO got the DC job at Mizzou.

There hasn’t been anything rumored between BO and Elarbee in 2 seasons together. That leads me to think this is about how Elarbee left, not that there’s some longstanding issue between the 2.

*Elarbee at the end of December* "If only I didn't spend that extra hour to tell my employer face to face that I was leaving I'd probably have this Offensive Line so much farther along"

Sounds ridiculous. I think if you just stopped showing up for work at any job and just sent a text message that would be a bad look and probably not sit good with people.

But it wouldn't have been an extra hour, it would have been Odom and his players attempting to talking him into staying. He made his decision to leave....and he left. Good for him.

Finley and Cooper get an audition against their old rival. Plenty to be excited about and I'm done speculating on a coach that is no longer at Mizzou.

No it's just walking into the office and saying I'm going to take the OC job at UCF and then you say I've made up my mind and you leave. That's about it. From players tweets it sounded like Heupel didn't meet with them and Odom was still fine with it.

Here's Odom talking about it during the impromptu press conference. LINK
