He wasted two years hiring Cross.

If HCED doesn't retain Haley, it would be a prime opportunity to give Kuligowski his redemption shot. I saw an exchange on twitter where he stated the rumor of him distributing Missouri's play book when he left was a blatant lie. He stated something of the effect that his life's work would have been in that book.

I still can't believe that went as poorly as it did.

I’m almost certain that Haley was going to be retained no matter what coach we hired and that it’s part of the deal. He took the program under his wing during the search, and I’m sure there was a handshake deal in place when that occurred.

I’d be completely shocked if he wasn’t the DL coach next year

I want him to stay. He has got something going at the line of scrimmage that Missouri hasn't had since the late 60s.

That said, they have to start making hay on passing downs. If the offense is anything like what Drink put on the field at NCState with Finley pulling the trigger, teams are going to have to throw to keep up. The ends have to do more and the back end can't give the chunk plays that they do.

Some if the DE struggle is Odom kept having to kick off the best DE on the team.

You’re right. Drink also made very specific mention, several times, about pressuring the QB. It needs to be an emphasis

Dave Matter confirmed that story was true.

Kuligowski can go frick himself.

Dave Matter must’ve heard it from an ESPN reporter.

Bazinga

A tweet from Karraker would’ve counted as confirmation.

Ha! Funny you say that but there may be truth to that. If I remember right, he mentioned it right after attending SEC media days. He would have clearly been around all the national guys for several days hearing things.

Judging from Kuligowski getting the axe at Bama tells me all I need to know. While I think we need to develop more of a pass rush I think the fan base became too enamored with the sack from the dline zou days. We need to become more enamored with stats like yards per play. I like shutting down the run more than I like QB sacks. Getting sacks doesn’t matter if you can’t stop the run. See the Helu game, Navy, and Aubun.

And stopping the run doesn't mean much if you give up big pass yardage on 3rd down over and over again. See MU 2019.

Defense that can do both is better. Defense that can do both and get turnovers in big games is champ material.

Our pass defense was 7th in the nation in yards allowed. Besides the first game our 14th ranked defense in the country was never the issue.

Even in the first game the offense gave Wyoming 17 points. The defense wasn’t good, but offensive turnovers were just as big of a problem.

Right, it would be dumb to fire the coaching staff right in the middle of recruiting
