And Drew Lock's dad, Andy, was an old lineman, right?

All these sons of old hosses coming up as QBs cracks me up a bit. Raiola at NEB, Becht at Iowa St. Now Marriot.
I was suggesting N. Petrino as an OC candidate sold as an up and comer from a proven coaching tree. I thought Tackle was talking OC candidates.
You have not watched MU's Off Coord run our season off a cliff the last 4-5 weeks. He is the embarassment, not the post.

I was simply responding to some of the talking heads coming out with "What makes A&M's defense so special" and "A&M has the offense and defense to challenge for the crown".

I should have been more clear. They may be right. But they should not be making those declarations about this last game. An ACC or middling Big 10 defense would have looked good against that sad offensive coaching effort.
Would Nick Petrino from Missouri State be seen as toxic as his Dad.

Obviously comes from that coaching tree. MO State has (amazingly IMO) had a successful year so far after jumping a whole level to D1 (Conf USA). And their offense has led the way.

Kind of a "How enamored are you with B. Petrino's offensive success?" suggestion.
If it is just because of last Saturday. Don't.

MU's Off Coordinator took a high school game plan, removed all the quick easy passes that would have taken some of the pressure off his "playing for the first time" freshman QB, and ran with that plan all game long.
It did not work all game long, but he did not let that stop him.

So give A&M coaches whatever credit you want to give them for simply letting the other team beat itself and not getting in the way.

Imagine firing Franklin for never winning the big game, and then hiring Drink.

Cant make this shite up

This is the point more than a few Mizzou posters have made about these rumors.
Not everyone has what it takes to coach at Colorado Bass
You make my argument for me.

it's the Big 10. You look amazing if you get a schedule that does not have Ohio State or Oregon in it (Indiana last season) because the rest of that league is Who Cares??

Drink could be top 3 or 4. I don't think he could be top 1 or 2.

Franklin just got fired after putting up season after season of top 3 or 4, but he could not beat 1 or 2.

Now Venom's arguments about NIL do carry some weight. I don't know how with it Penn State's recruiting is, because I do not care about Penn State.
I don't understand the Penn State rumors. They just fired their coach for not being able to beat Ohio State and Oregon.

Why would they hire a coach that can't beat Bama and A&M?
Or most ranked SEC teams when we play them?

Now, if MU had broke through and beat Bama or A&M and Vandy, I would understand the argument. But we did not.

Gabe defense of Drink

I agree with Gabe's argument here.

That said, I think most of MU's rational fanbase (which I think is a majority) simply wants the coaching staff to be doing everything they can to keep improving and get that breakthrough.

Doing everything they can means moving on from obvious impediments. This whole season has shown that Moore and Link are obvious impediments.

If Drink keeps doing everything he can to keep things moving in the right direction and brings in better special teams and Off coaching this offseason, I will be behind him.
Pride seems to be one of those players that is good for 48/50 plays every game, regardless of who we are playing. And often, those 2 plays go for a big play.
With Link, Yoro, and Moore this season, all the other coaches can count on the heat being somewhere else this offseason.
Need a new special teams coach
That fake punt gutted us. Defense had just come up with a big stop. It was not a lucky play. The kid did not break a tackle to break it. There was no one out there for 40 yards or whatever it went for.
And it was not the first special teams breakdown this year. Won't be the last. Feeling pretty regular.

I think Moore needs to go.
He just does not show the ability to adjust enough, or at all. We need a different plan of attack in the running game when teams stop the stretch play. We have yet to show one.
We need a different passing plan when our quarterback is not executing and is struggling. Again and again, we have shown a lack of adjustment to lessen the load on the quarterback when the opposing defense has the upper hand.

Batoon has improved. His defenses give up too many big plays, but it feels like he has the defense moving in the right direction. I think he has earned more time to see if he can keep improving the defense and the defensive coaching.

Much like how he played at K-State.

No calls to help the QB. Boy, that showed through again today. Young QB trying to get through his first game, in a tough assignment. And it did not feel like Moore did much of anything to lower the pressure on him.

And Manning and the O-Line did not rise to the occasion of doing everything they could to help him out either.

Ugggh. I had not thought of the announcers yet. I hope we don't get the same 2 schmucks that did the Bama game. They were atrocious and missed half the actual game squeezing in all the talking points.
