Yeah, we really needed that UT win for me to feel good about the year.

With that said I’m actually surprised the 5-19 record isn’t worse.

Incredible win, who would've thought we'd beat Florida on the road? HUGE game against Texas Tech this weekend.

Wasn't able to watch, but always a great feeling when you're out and every single sports app you have notifys you that you beat Florida (20)

I watched the first half and was surprised by the 3-pt shooting. Caught the beginning of the second half and saw them go on a 13-0 run and thought, here we go.

Me too, and especially after Silva picked up his 3rd foul and had to sit, I thought that was it. But Myers played strong from beginning to end, and wouldn't let the team collapse. And when Silva came back in at the 13th minute mark, he stepped up too, and it was too much for UF. The Gators just do not much of a presence at the bigs, and Silva and Kotsar were able to control the paint.

Booker wasn't much of a presence until towards the end when he hit 1-2 threes, and Gravett was a non-factor. Once again I thought Hinson gave us a boost with his three-shooting, although he needs to stop fouling opponents when they are taking a 3-pt. shot.

But again the team defense was strong all game long, and the team didn't quit when they fell down in the 2nd half. This team seems to be gaining some confidence in itself as the season progresses - hopefully they come out ready to compete for Texas Tech this weekend....

Total implosion in the final 4 minutes, had a chance for a huge win. Damnit that sucked.

Mentioned in the in-game thread, but Myers just totally fricked us in those last few minutes. Again, it's a team sport but the last 3 plays for him were:

2 Missed FTs
Terrible 3 point attempt
Foul out on an and 1 against their best player
2 points all game

This loss hurts. With the UK win and the win at UF, this could have been huge. God if Felder was on this team we'd probably have 16 or 17 wins.

This team is so up and down. 2-2 against four straight top 20 teams isn’t all bad, but we should have been 4-0. Needed this one.

Agree on Myers. Missing the two FT’s hurt. Just knew Evans would bury one after that.

Gamecocks took a 58-53 lead on Haase's 3pt FGM and the the game was stopped at 6:20 due to a clock error. crowd was lit and standing as USC was setting up in its halfcourt defense and then everything came to a halt.

after the game delay, TT made a 3pt FG and followed it up with the awfully incorrect intentional foul call on Booker. the whole sequence involving the clock/IF killed USC's momentum and changed the game.

Carolina had just 2 FTA (Meyers 0-2) after Kotsar made his 'and-1' FT with 8:16 to play and USC up 55-51.

Silva score his last 2 points of the game making 2 FT with 10:16 to play. his only FGA after that came as a desperation 3 with 0:35 left. that's unfortunate, especially with USC being in the bonus with 15:53 and double-bonus the final 8:45 of the game.

Frank gave Silva his only rest in 2H from the 10:01 mark until 7:46. USC was up 48-44 when Silva went to the bench and held a 55-53 lead when he returned. Chris never made it back to the FT line and had just the 1 3pt FGA - along with 2 turnovers, 1 rebound.

Frank's done a lot of effective things with his roster the past 4 games. I don't understand Hinson not playing any minutes in the final 15:56 - especially with the foul trouble USC was dealing with.

Hinson on the court in the final minutes would drive/get fouled and shoot FT as opposed to Gravett, Meyers, Betty and Booker all stuck out behind the 3 pt line struggling to get a shot up.

Evan was 3/4 from the FT to start the 2H before he was replaced, and not return. Hinson should get all of Beatty's minutes unless Evan is in foul trouble. Evan played 9 minutes and took 1 shot total and 3/4 FT today, while Beatty was 0-5 FGA and 2/2 FT in 14 minutes.

frustrating loss

sorry tl/dr - /rant

I'm just now sobering-up from the game earlier.

We're right on the cusp of being an above average team if only we could get consistent guard play.

Gotta like what the young guys are doing though. Frank is gonna have us competitive and dancing on a yearly basis ... I still believe we go dancing this year.

It may be blind optimism but I think we do too.

The SEC just got a huge bump tonight winning the SEC/B12 challenge too. This game was never gonna hurt us too much unless we got the brakes beat off of us.

Shake it off, and get back in the W column and give yourself a chance.

Could somebody shop Jim Sterk's head on to this ball and repost it in the Rant?

Tonight is a "must win" for us. I hate to say that, but we have to serve court at home if we want to make the tourney. I am thinking 6-4 with a win in the SEC tournament, or 7-3 without gets us in.

And we're back off the bubble.

Defense was awful tonight. Let state drive into the lane all night long except when we switched to zone for part of the second half.

Not sure why we went away from that and not sure why we didn't use it against Tech when they were doing the same thing but hopefully somebody will ask Frank

This team just doesn't have the guard play to be a tournament team this year. Myers I guess is content to tell his grandkids about the time he scored 20 points in Gainesville because he's played atrociously since that game, Gravett is still learning to be a point guard, Holden is still out, Brooker is just a 3 and D guard, Hinson and Beatty are too inexperienced.

Not having Minaya further exacerbates our lack of quality guard play. Hopefully he isn't out long or we're in for a 6 game losing streak.

Next 5 games:
@aTm
@Arky
Florida
@UT
Auburn

All RPI top 50 teams

Just got home. We can’t stand prosperity. Every time we got close, we let them make the plays to extend the lead back out. Our lack of PG play is killing us.
