Troy’s Neal Brown has agreed in principle to become West Virginia’s coach, sources told @WatchStadium. Brown will receive a 6-year deal, source said

Hope he does well. Certainly someone Auburn could target when needed

Why did Holgorsen leave WVU for Houston? Money?

Good Hire for west Virgina. I bet UAB's coach will get picked off by a bigger school in a year or 2

Probably part of it, but I'd guess he may feel like he hit his ceiling at W Va. Part of it is probably he feels there's a much better recruiting potential in and around Houston than in W Va too.

Listened to him in an interview yesterday.

He said one, he loves to be in Texas

Two, recruiting is much better. They hardly had any Blue Chip recruits from WV and difficult to compete in the ACC. Says the 2nd and 3rd Tier recruits from Texas were better than the top recruits surrounding WV. Feels Houston will be an easier sell, and knows Texas kids stay closer to home a lot.

Three, he wants a chance to build Houston into a Power 5 Spot.
Also, I learned the money is basically the same (4M per for 5 years), but has a stipulation of $1M raise should Houston move to a Power 5 status.

Congrats to Brown. Maybe he kills it at WVU and we look at him down the line.

That’s according to what he’s willing to say. In reality, Holgorsen was one more mediocre year away from being canned and that’s the real reason he left WVU

No doubt that was a big reason. I mean he didn't do shite in WV. Horrible bowl record and only finished 2nd once.

Supposedly, he and WVU had been negotiating a contract extension and a raise for him, but the negotiations had gone on for almost (over?) a year. They couldn't come to terms, so he took the next best thing.

Probably other reasons too, but money was definitely part of it. I really don't see why everyone thinks he's hot shite. Look at his record. He's had two 10-3 seasons at WVU, but otherwise his record looks like crap.

He looked like a hot commodity at one time, but agree, He didn't do a damn thing at WV really. Negotiations stalled because he wasn't worth the money he was asking for is my guess.

Houston has been making a strong push to get an invite to a P5 conference. If that ever happens, Houston becomes a top job

You don't know the half it lol. Tillman Fertitta is the man in Houston with the money. He's the big money booster for UH and owns the Rockets and a group of casino's (Among many other things) and he's also the cousin of Lorenzo and Frank Fertitta who used to own the UFC (they sold it for 4 Bil) and currently own a different set of casino's (Station). They are also big donors to Bishop Gorman High School in Vegas. BG is basically a football factory at this point too. There's some rumblings about them being part of the reason the Raiders are moving to Vegas... Their families are basically left over mob lol. There's a lot more too it, but it would take forever. It's really interesting though.
