Obviously anything can happen with these picks but it sure seems like many more ppl were high on Doncic becoming the best player in the draft than Young. the added pick is basically useless

Even if Dallas tanks next year the pick is top 5 protected.

If not more protected.

Has anyone else read that Young's shot is too flat with a low release for the NBA

Better score 130 pts a night, because that collection of players isn't going to stop anybody.

I'm pretty sick with that trade. We get an extra lottery pick in a year where there most people think the talent past #1 is good but not great. We get a guy who wore down in college after 20 games, plays no defense and became a volume shooter by the end of the year. Young may end up being somewhere between JR Smith and Steph, but he also has very real total bust potential. Doncic is, at worst, a league average guard and at best a perennial all-star.

I just don't get it. Then we go out and draft another guy who can shoot but can't play a lick of defense. AND, to top it all off, we still have Dennis on the roster, totally destroying any leverage we might have had in trading him.

It's incredible how this organization went from the loveable, smart, crafty organization in the league/city 4 years ago to clearly the 4th of 4 in the city today.

Yeah I am seeing no reason to support the Hawks right now. Going to start following Atlanta Dream instead.

The only positive I see is that they are at least clearly zeroed in on a direction. They aren't hodgepodging, and they think that the best way to build is to draft superstar shooters. Also, to be fair to Young, in addition to being a really good shooter he is also a fantastic passer. So, if things go perfect, they have a core of really good shooters and a ball mover plus a very talented stretch player in Collins. At that point you can use money and/or your millions of picks to build around that.

However, I'm just not very high on Young at all. But hopefully I'm just some noob idiot who doesn't know anything.

it is a win..the media wants the Euro guy to be good. Dallas ate it up. Hawks need a true passing PG and they got him. Perfect position to start a rebuild. Shroeder sucks arse so it makes perfect sense. Even better if the Hawks get a top 10 pick out of the protected pick. The Hawks won

He put up some really good numbers last year. I think after a couple seasons in the NBA he will develop into a potential all star.

I know it's 3 games into summer league, but our boy is now 12-of-52 for 23 percent (3 of 24 - 13% - from 3).

I'm not going to react to summer ball either way, but my fear is he is just this kind of player. A streaky outside shooter with some passing skills who also can't play a lick of defense.

That's not a Top 5 pick type player. But like I said above, hopefully I'm incredibly wrong.

Trae Young is a good passer which is kind of been his best asset. I expected a streaky shooter so that's meh but he looks like a good facilitator. His main issue is defensively he has to get help every possession because he's not good defensively. That said, he can run the point decently and facilitates very well which has been a nice suprise. Reminds me of Lonzo Ball last season.

Not exactly making the greatest 1st impression in Summer league

Trae is straight trash. I knew the second they took him that they wasted a #3 pick. Looking at what they could have done in the draft and what they did was a complete embarrassment. If they wanted the other 1st rounder next year then take Bamba and Holiday. Then maybe use the next two picks to trade up and get Simmons or another SG. If not then take Doncic, Simmons and Robinson. Young was a wasted pick.

It’s summer league. Trae has 24 points and 5 assists and stroked 7 threes. He’s looked really good as a facilitator in every game I’ve watched. Your crazy if you think the top scorer/assist guy from college is going to come in and be terrible. I dislike his defense as much as everyone else but his ability to play the point and shoot is a big thing in the modern NBA

Yea, I have a hard time caring much about summer league at all. I'm certainly not deciding guys career arcs based on it.

Trae was filthy tonight. He had a stretch in the 4th where he made NBA level assists one after another

His passing game is filthy. It's basically been his biggest asset. He gets his shot off extremely fast so if it's falling he can also light up the scoreboard but im really encouraged by what I've seen so far.

I wanted Doncic but Trae looks to be a fun PG that can absolutely turn it on and take over a game.
