It’s just like this year you have people claiming that UCF has a National Championship in college football. I expect those same people would say Ole Miss has a share of the 1960 title.

But seriously, Ole Miss was the only team in 1960 to go undefeated on the field. They won their bowl game, the Sugar Bowl, while Minnesota did not win the Rose Bowl. Minnesota also lost to unranked Purdue in the regular season. Ole Miss tied LSU, but that was the closest they ever came to losing a game. They outscored opponents 275 to 76 on the season (Minnesota went 228 to 88). Vaught was the SEC coach of the year. These rustling attempts are cute

Yes

For SEC teams, the 60's count for Rebs, even if the yankees gave it to the Gophers

For non SEC teams, I think the "Fightin Okras" have multiple Natty's and they are in the state of Mississippi.

Mizzou was rightful winner. They were #1 going into a loss to KU that the Jayhawks had to later forfeit. So, Mizzou also undefeated on the field after the fact

bowl games were irrelevant to rankings in 1960

Ole Miss refused to play integrated teams. Minnesota had its first black player in the early 1900s

Well, you literally cannot get any closer to losing than ending a game in a tie...
