One thing to note is he turns 18 this year as a junior…….He is very old for his grade

This is seemingly more common now–some parents start schooling late or even hold their kid back so that they’ll have a physical advantage (or at least not a disadvantage) all the way though organized sports.

Kid isn't playing remotely up to his ranking. Without the name Manning he wouldn't even be a four star, much less a five star. Those are just facts. He might turn it around, but for now he is anything but a difference maker

Like I said, he would fit in well at Texas. That entire roster is overrated

Extremely overrated. Just like his grandpa

I went to a lot of his Grandpa's games. Naw he wasn't overrated. Only reason he didn't get the Heisman was west coast media.

Archie Sr. deserved the Heisman. And I am no Ole Miss fan.

I hear you Harry. If the kid is 16 or 17, he shouldn’t be criticized. But I’ve seen you troll 18-year-old college freshman. I don’t see much of a difference. They are all college kids to me. Where is the line?

Arch Manning will be the biggest flop we’ve seen in years. I hope one of my rivals get him so they waste a scholarship.

I agree. No way Archie Griffin should have won two Heismans.

Me neither - and Archie was before my time. But I've watched enough video of him - take the snap, start running immediately because the line leaks like a sieve, juke and jive a bit to keep from getting killed, then hit a receiver on the money.

I'm surprised he didn't raise those kids to be accountants. His way of making a living did not look fun.

Archie got more fame off his son than he did from his own career. You couldn't watch a Tennessee game in the 90's without constant shots of Archie in the stands and reminders from the announcers of who Archie was.

Archie manning was the first person to have his number retired at Ole Miss and they even changed the speed limit through campus to honor him. Couple that with him having sons who were top QB's when they were playing and I think it is a pretty relevant story, especially around the SEC.

But I am sure you would rather see more pictures of the dildo shoulder pad squad, so here you go.

Archie was about the 4th best qb in that era of SEC football.

Want to know how we all know that you never watched a game of his at Ole Miss?

4th best? Name 3 better.

You might have an argument for Sullivan. You might have an argument for Reaves. You might have an argument for Stabler.

Maybe

I was old enough to see him play. He was really good and could do it all. People don't realize that back then the passing games were extremely primitive, there were no receiver gloves or even stick 'em...and pass blocking rules were different.

Archie might have won the Heisman his Sr. year but he got hurt. Meanwhile Jim Plunkett threw for a bunch of yards and ended up getting the Heisman.

If you were actually alive and old enough to watch Archie Manning, you know why he didn't win the Heisman his senior year. First of all, he missed games with a broken arm. Second, here are his numbers...in only 8 games:

121 for 233, 51.9%. That's right...he barely completed half his passes. 1481 yards. 14 TDS and 14 INTs.

Jim Plunket: 211 for 388, 54.4%. 2980 yards 19 TDs, 19 INTs.

Plunket had TWICE as many passing yards as Manning. You have to have literally zero football IQ to think Manning deserved the Heisman over Plunket. Plunket also averaged a full yard per run more than Manning.

Manning was one of the great QBs of SEC history. His ability to scramble was unlike anyone else at that time.

But to suggest that he deserved the Heisman more than Jim Plunket and that the only reason that Plunket won it is because of "west coast media" is mind-numbingly stupid. Period. End of discussion.

You think 52% completions, 14 TDs and 1491 passing yards tops 54%, 19 TDs and 2980 yards? Yes, he missed games. He still only averaged 185 passing yards per game. You think that tops 248 a game???

I hope Texas gets him as an Aggie. Watch them burn their own house even further with his drama and lack of performance. Kid plays 1A high school ball and can't even dominate at that level, yet, he is the #1 recruit in his class? Hahahahahhaha. Please. I would want no part of Manning. He will ruin whatever program he goes to except for Texas....they need any help they can get with that squad of softies.
