Complete BS on this...Archie was a very good QB at Ole Miss.

I went to a lot of his Grandpa's games. Naw he wasn't overrated. Only reason he didn't get the Heisman was west coast media.

Archie Sr. deserved the Heisman. And I am no Ole Miss fan.

Couldn't agree more!! I am no Ole Miss fan either!!

Lots of COPE going on since he looks like a Longhorn Lock.

That would make him even more overrated than the last "quarterback royalty" who signed with t.u. (Chris Simms).

Maybe Archie didn’t win the Heisman because he lacked a signature win that season. Or maybe it was because he chose to attend a racist university.

I think he has the tools and definitely the genetics to be coached up to be a top tier recruit, but he doesn't much look like it to me either.

I think part of the shine he lacks is because he doesn't have a complement of D1 talent around him to pump up his image, record, and stats? Seriously, that does help a great deal.

He's also still young. There's a lot of the Elite 11 QB's that we hear about making camps and passing the looks test prior to college then never hear about them again.

Are you really pretending this is an Ole Miss fan?

How many times have you ever heard an Ole Miss fan say Archie was overrated and only the 4th best qb of his era?

The OP has way too much Bama in him.

Generally I agree with your statement.

But I make exceptions for “kids” who are being shoved down our throat as the next coming of jesus at qb while still in Highschool.

If they get to sell him, I get to critique his play. They don’t have to let him do interviews, but they are.

What was the point of bumping this and the Elias Ricks thread on the recruiting board?

Still think he's a Texas lock? I mean, the poor kid would get brutalized behind that line.

It's just all name recognition

The good thing about big-time sports (like major college and the NFL) is that if you’re not special and legitimately talented, you inevitably will be exposed regardless of your last name and who your dad is.

Having the last name Hanks might get you some acting roles, even if you’re mediocre. Having the last name Trump might get you some business opportunities, even if you’re mediocre. Having the last name Kardashian might get you 50 million IG followers, even if you’re mediocre.

But no last name will get you on the field in the NFL if you’re mediocre. Nobody’s born on third base.

I haven’t seen a snap of Arch Manning, but if he’s not the real deal he’ll flame out. Don’t worry.

I've never thought he was that great. His name elevates him from a high 3 star to a 5 star

He is the classic longhorn QB commit. Overhyped recruit and everyone will wonder why he's not as successful as he was supposed to be.

In no universe was Archie Manning even remotely overrated. This is coming from someone who attended a lot of his cfb games but is no OM fan.

I am not an Ole Miss fan or a N.O. Saints fan! Anyone that says Archie was overrated is an idiot and has never watched video of his college and pro games. If he played behind a decent offensive line in the NFL, no telling what he could have accomplished. He was one of the most accurate roll out QBs ever. He was one tough son of a gun. He played hurt many times.
