I mean he could have the 10th best college career of his class which would be an amazing accomplishment and still be considered a bust. Thats a lot of pressure.

He is ranked because of his name. He is significantly overrated

Yeah - I've never seen this kind of hype, this early, turn out well. Just ask Damon Bailey. Kid made the NBA, was a legend at IU, but you could see the pressure just wear on him.

Coached a couple years of high school ball - then walked away from the game. I wonder if he misses it.

Archie got more fame off his son than he did from his own career. You couldn't watch a Tennessee game in the 90's without constant shots of Archie in the stands and reminders from the announcers of who Archie was.

If Archie would have gone to any other team other than the Saints in the 70s he could have had hall of fame stats...hell if I am not mistaken, he was the Saints all time leader rusher until the Saints drafted George Rogers in '81...the man was sacked 340 times in his career in New Orleans...

Archie is the most overrated player in college football history.

This is a bad take, albeit not surprising coming from you

Don't let your pussy bleed too much that Peyton won the SEC Championship and Ole Piss can't find Atlanta on a map after 30 years.

Why are you so obsessed with a high school aged male?

Archie was a helluva lot more mobile and faster than either of his sons.

He didn't have the passing stats but he also didn't have the receivers his sons had.

Try reading my comment again - or, for that matter - just reading anything on a regular basis. Start small - something like old Marvel Comics. Work your way up.

The pressure is not helpful in him developing into his full potential. Even if he makes the NFL, and is - say, the 17th best quarterback - the accolades this early just set a standard that is unfair to him.

Watched about 3/4 of the game last night and other than a bad interception, he was impressive. Hit a back shoulder from the opposite hash that looked like an NFL throw and outran everybody on a 65 yd TD run.

I like the Manning family. I have done charity work for Multiple Sclerosis with them because their family and mine have family members with it. So contrary to what people say about them, they are great people

In saying that, I have watched Arch play a lot. He is a good kid. But he isn’t a top SEC level prospect much less the number 1 QB recruit. I hope he proves me wrong. One thing to note is he turns 18 this year as a junior…….He is very old for his grade

It’s a tiny private school. It is coed and has 1000 students K-12, so a high school with fewer than 200 boys. Not to mention they’re 99% white rich kids. What exactly do you expect? Peyton did, however, manage to go 34-5 as a high school starter, which is the best they’ve ever done. They’ve never won a state title in football in the history of their school. The only stars titles in major sports they’ve won the last 40 years have been 3 basketball titles when Randy Livingston was playing and two baseball titles about 20 years ago. I guess Peyton was so overrated that he became one of the best NFL QBs of all-time

From the outside looking in, they certainly seem to be a fine family. And that has to help the kid - I wonder if they work to keep him grounded through all this. Would not doubt that they do.
