It’s not in NOLA anymore for a reason.

Wat? Memphis is arguably one of the bigger and most diverse SEC cities in the southeast. A whole lot of fans from Ole Miss, Arkansas, State, Tennessee, and Alabama live there. It’s a few hours drive from like half the conference

Memphis in song and story is great, hell I fell for the mystic in thinking the Ole Miss game should rotate there. But reality is the urban areas of Memphis are pretty rough.

Memphis and New Orleans are too ghetto for a basketball tournament. Honestly so is Atlanta. Have no problem with Nashville and Tampa.

If true where are the fans on here that are living in Memphis?

I'd be okay with the SECT being there once every 4 years if the Mount Moriah Center For The Performing Arts was still open.

There are plenty of posters from Memphis, myself included, as if that’s even relevant

Memphis isn't quite as bad as everybody says it is.

But I am glad I don't live there.

They are requiring the vax and masks for everything in that arena. No thanks.

Birmingham? Where would they play?

The newly redone Legacy Arena in the Birmingham–Jefferson Convention Complex (BJCC) seats 17-19k.

They also just built a new multi-use football stadium next door. It’s where UAB plays. I think it only holds about 45k though.

I have fam that works in Memphis but lives and commutes from Mississippi, there’s a reason that they commute.

People live in north MS and commute to Memphis cause they can’t afford the nice houses in Memphis but can afford the nice ones in Southaven ect. Real Estate cost are a fraction of what they are in Memphis

Or they can’t afford private schooling in Memphis so send their kids to a public school like Olive Branch or Southaven…. YIKES

When I worked at St. Jude, I tried to get the SEC Media Days moved to the Peabody, then have the coaches and media tour the hospital. Never could get that off the ground.

Normally, that woukd be a fair statement. But, Mercedes Benz Stadium surrounding area is equally as ghetto and stabby.
