This is a much better matchup for us. Should be a really good game. I don't expect a full on meltdown from corral after his play against Alabama this time though.
I think our defense can slow them down. We're built to compete better here although I won't be surprised if lane rolls some heavy sets out there.
Penalties are the biggest concern. Gotta clean that shite up pittboss.
Their defense doesn't seem intimidating. We just need to come out pissed and put some hats on hats.

I'm honestly not sure what to make of this one. Both have looked impressive until they hit an elite team.
2 different styles. Hard to say. I think this one comes down to how our D plays.
Would feel a lot better if we were at home.

Yeah that's probably the biggest red flag for me right now. a road game atmosphere could be rough but an 11am start should help us this time. i don't expect ole miss to be anything compared to athens last weekend although i'm sure it'll be rowdy.

I think it’ll be a close game. Probably in the 20s/ maybe 30s. If we can establish the run cs their defense which I think we can, we have a very good shot. They are improved on defense but they still don’t have anyone who can cover burks so if they’re forced to stack the box we should have stuff deep open up

Honestly, I expect Ole Miss to come out flat. Kiffen wanted that one bad and he took an ugly loss. Teams tend to mirror their coaches so...
That being said, hopefully Pittman has put the Georgia game behind him and the team ready for Ole Miss.

Their house. Despite the butt whipping they received last week (as did we), they will be motivated. I hope so will we.
I'm expecting a tight game.

ditto all this
I initially thought even though our 2021 momentum was good, that Ole Miss was coming in with even stronger momentum - now I think it's evened out.
Pittboss is a stabilizing force. These kids would run through brick walls for the guy.

I think our defense will be more comfortable defending them. I am worried we are going to come out physically beat up and sluggish, although they just played bama so they might too.

I expect Corral and Kiffin have both watched last years film 100 times. I suspect we will need to make some tweaks to coverages or figure out how to get to him quickly. I’m not super confident in our ability or even willingness to do that after watching our three man front get steamrolled all day vs GA. The few plays at the end where we went to a 4 man front yielded better results vs. the run….but of course the game was long over.
This bothers me as we had 6ints and 2 pick 6s last year…and won by 13. We won’t get that again…ever…against anyone…and Corral will be HIGHLY motivated to pick us apart. He’s better this year than last also.
That said:
I think we can run the ball against them as their D isn’t better than aTm’s. If we struggle there, Ole Miss wins handily. I look for us to establish the run and try to control the clock (no shock there). We need to be +2 on turnovers and we should win. If we can’t turn them over…it’s gonna be tough. Our special teams will hurt us at least twice, just like they do every game (it’s almost like part of the game plan now).
Count me as worried, but very hopeful we bring Texas game intensity. It’ll take that for 4 qtrs to win this one. Just not sure how many big games in a row a college team can be up for.

I agree that we are definitely going to try and grind them with our running game like Bama did. Rocket might secure his spot as our big power back this week. I agree too that Corral is going to be locked in trying to pick us apart.
My only big concern on special teams is punt protection and kickoff return. Field goal kicking has been great and kickoff coverage has been easy with lots of touchbacks. Our kickoff return has had dumb mistakes and 2 punt blocks is obviously bad.

If our special teams doesn’t derp the game away it’ll be close. If we can get a few turnovers we win. My big issue is if kiffin decides to just run the ball at us we may be fricked dropping 8 every play.

Part of this defense though is that it's a trap to think it's super easy to run against us
it's not

Yeah. Not liking this game because of how awful Corral looked last year. No way they have game planned some plays to attack our defense specifically. I look for several big plays on their end.
Im afraid we may be shell-shocked on offense after our dismal display last week...I expect us to look shaky the first quarter at least. The defense will have to keep us in it until the offense settles in.
If we can run the ball we win. But thats a big if. Being on the road doesnt help.

Our secondary may tell the tale of this game.
If we are ON, we win... Looking for some of those boys to step up and shut down the passing game. If we leave over the top passes wide open deep, it may be a long day.

I would like to see the offense get in a rhythm early. Slow starts can't happen against a dynamic offense like Ole Miss

Agreed.
Kiffin strikes me as very similar to Nutt in his reliance on motivation and showmanship to get his kids up for games. The problem with that is the potential for letdown, and you follow up a big win against #6 Texas in Austin with 0-for-October, including losses to bad Auburn and Florida teams at home in consecutive weeks. Kiffin wanted that Bama game, bad. Just as Nutt had the Texas game circled heading into 2003.
This is a litmus test game for this Hogs season, and how we respond to the Georgia loss might dictate the rest of the season. Hopefully this is where Pittman’s steady demeanor and approach truly pay dividends.

I am not sure why, but I am feeling less optimistic we get closer to game time.
I keep thinking about our weak coverage that TAMU and Texas couldn't take advantage of for the deep ball.
that and all of our penalties ...
Talk me out of it!

Pittman and staff have to show they can really coach and clean things up. It bottomed out against UGA for obvious reasons.
I think we move the ball on Ole Miss, just not confident we can stop and score with them. There’s a reason theyre favored by 6.
A&M sucks and Texas would have been a lot tougher with the second QB.
