Everything went right. Had an Ohio St transfer at the helm in his second year. Great offensive coordinator.

Depends what we're defining as the fluke.
Was that team a fluke? No, they dominated en route to an all-time great championship season.
Was it a fluke that Ed Orgeron managed to assemble a roster and staff capable of being an all-time championship season? Yeah, seems like it at the moment.

Not a fluke because LSU is a championship level program. I do believe they caught lightning in a bottle with that staff and players.
