I’m not actually in favor of this (and I think John Sharp is a dumbass). I just want to see the LSU melts.

Houston Chronicle

quote:

Exact numbers have not been disclosed, but Fisher potentially might trail only mentor Nick Saban of Alabama (recently raised to an average of $10.6 million through 2028 season) when the ink dries in College Station.

Fisher, 55, is 26-10 from 2018-2020 at A&M. The Aggies are ranked No. 6 in the preseason AP poll and kick off their fourth season under Fisher at 7 p.m. Saturday against Kent State at Kyle Field. Alabama’s trustees earlier this month approved a raise and extension for Saban, who turns 70 on Halloween.

When A&M lured Fisher from FSU with a 10-year deal in December 2017 worth a guaranteed $75 million, A&M chancellor John Sharp was asked if he had any concern about signing Fisher to such a long-term contract.

“Yes,” Sharp told the Houston Chronicle. “We couldn’t get him to agree to a 15-year deal, so this is the best we got.”

I agree. He and a couple others will likely get a raise as well... all thanks to Nick Saban.

Yeah, cause A&GAY overpaying for a coach w/ZERO SEC skins on the wall is going to make LSU fans melt

An extension and a raise to lose to Alabama and LSU? A&M can do that without a coach.

Lol. Yeah, hes surely earned it. What a joke. He hasnt even been to ATL yet representing the west. I have a strong feeling they will regret this.

This raise is obviously based on where the program is going. They are a top 10 team about to pull in another great recruiting class. Best they have ever recruited. Period.

Jimbo is doing a great job.

thats a hell of a spin. why would LSU fans melt about a positive for us?

youre about to extend an underachieving coach's already retarded contract.

and straight up if it werent for Florida you guys would still have the most retarded contract extension/situation.

New deal between Texas A&M and Jimbo Fisher will average right at $9 million over 10 years. Should be approved tomorrow. Aggie AD @RossBjorkAD and the Board stepped up in a big time way. Long-term commitment from both sides here.

This is a terrible idea and will probably end badly just like the last 2 major extensions did.

Especially bad that there is no buyout clause on his end.

This might be the most Aggie decision ever.

Not only has Jimbo not sniffed Atlanta, but, the Aggies are extending him based off of a Covid-distorted year ??.

I gotta say, this seems really unnecessary at this point.

I mean we print money so that’s not the issue. But…… why???
