Obviously we are not in the SEC yet, but it seems to me, from an outsider perspective, that Auburn is to Alabama as Oklahoma State is to OU. You go to Auburn if you don’t get an Alabama offer, or Auburn pays a bunch of cash and offers your brother a scholarship also. Historically in recruiting new coaches get a recruiting bump because of the excitement. It appears the excitement with Auburns new coach is not good. Wish the best for you guys as someone needs to challenge the king, but finishing 20th ain’t gonna do it. Lowly OU is higher than that and we aren’t even in the SEC.
.

You’re a quick learner

Didn’t Boise Bryan cost like a hundred million dollars? Ole Miss could build a new stadium with that kinda money lol

I think the AU head coach is a sharp cookie though...might make some noise.

Possibly... assuming anyone can even remember his name.

That's funny, the potato man is used to finishing #1 in the conference in recruiting.

Did you see the greeting Chizik got when he arrived at Auburn?

Brutal.

If it's still that way in Nov., it will be time to panic.

There were a lot of things working against him this year. Putting a good quality team on the field will help in recruiting.

Be careful. You’ve ruffled some eagle feathers as you can see by the comments.

Does Oklahoma State get so riled up by such a casual observation?

except Alabama didn’t bail on a conference they were dominating just to avoid playing Auburn every year

Nailed it.

Although I think the barn resents it a lot more since they are occasionally decent.

It’s mid-August, plenty of time for recruiting. Once prospects see what the new staff puts on the field things will pick up.

I bet he’s got a hilarious and witty misspellings of Harsin just waiting in his back pocket.

Why is this surprising to anyone? I don’t think anyone assumed Harsin was a top recruiter. He’s going to have to work harder at it and bring some top assistant recruiters in long term or will fail.

For everything Malzahn was, he really wasn’t respected enough as a great recruiter. For all intents and purposes Auburn recruiter extremely well against Bama, UGA, UF, and LSU when we were second fiddle for most of the battles. Auburn is an uphill battle for recruiting, but Harsin seems like a solid coach I think he’ll turn out okay.
