Auburn dead last in SEC recruiting

So how long before the natives start getting restless? Don't ever remember the barn sucking so bad this late in the process.
Landon played in all 13 games this year with 14 tackles

Landon dosent play and Gunner is leaving. Yeah great choice T.

Chicken, I too came here in 2007 to gloat over Saban coming to Bama after years of mediocrity. I soon became addicted to the no holes barred exchanges between posters and found it hard to leave. I am a paying member on other sites but find I spend more time reading here than any other site.I don't post often but wanted to applaud you for what you have created. Great job!

ESPN saved college football by pimping the shite out of alabama thus allowing them to play in a game they didn't deserve.
That must be what happened in 2007 with a 2 loss LSU team. No question BAMA PROVED they deserved to be there. Not so sure about LSU.

Repeal to override multiyear scholarship rule fails
LINK /

quote:
A repeal effort to overturn multiyear scholarships like the ones Auburn offered the 2012 recruiting class failed by a mere two votes in the NCAA vote Friday.

Opponents of the rule — Auburn and Florida are the only two SEC schools to offer multiyear deals — needed to get 207 of 330 votes, or 62.5 percent, to overturn the rule and force schools to go back to offering one-year renewable scholarships for the next cycle.

“I am pleased that student-athletes will continue to benefit from the ability of institutions to offer athletics aid for more than one year,” NCAA President Mark Emmert said, “but it’s clear that there are significant portions of the membership with legitimate concerns. As we continue to examine implementation of the rule, we want to work with the membership to address those concerns.”

The rule was passed in the fall, but enough schools raised formal objections that a possible repeal vote was needed. Objecting schools had argued that the tool could be a recruiting advantage for schools prepared to offer the security of a multiyear scholarship. In addition to Auburn and Florida, most of the schools in the Big Ten — including Wisconsin, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Nebraska and several others — began offering multiyear scholarships this season.

The less desirable programs have to sweeten the pot to get recruits.Even then the results were not very impressive. It will end up biting you boogs in the arse when your 4 year schollys cop an attitude and refuse to go all out in the weight room or on the field and you can't do a damn thing about it without fear of a law suit. This move will guarantee your mediocrity for years to come. :doublebird:

Doing the math there are
6- 5 Stars
15- 4 Stars
10- 3 stars
1- 2 star

My point being that the best players are consistently 4 and 3 stars not the 5 stars.

Did you ever make it out of 3rd. grade?
Simple Math
1 in 5 5*...first round

1 in 20 4*..first round

1 in 90 3*..first round
Anybody that thinks the number of stars means nothing is an idiot.

Saban-4 year Scholarships
How will Saban circumvent the rule when the NCAA enforces 4 year scholarships ?

1. Have T-Town PD plant drugs on future processed players.

2. Have the Redneck Mafia slam cardoors on players legs.

3. Players just disappear and show up in some 3rd World Nation and decide to give up football

4. Tells the NCAA to go screw themselves.
When you have a mediocre program sometimes you have to sweeten the offer to recruits to get them. Even then most elite players would rather take a one year guarantee and have a chance to win championships.Looking at yesterdays results the bag man might need to reload the debit cards for next year. :doublebird:

llinois fullback Jay Prosch will transfer to Auburn, the Illini announced Wednesday.

Prosch had told the Alabama Press-Register that he wanted to transfer to be closer to his mother who is recovering from brain cancer and to find a system that better suits him than the spread offense new coach Tim Beckman will use.

Prosch served mostly as a blocking back in his two seasons with Illinois, carrying only twice for nine yards. He led special teams this season with 10 tackles.

In 2010, he helped running back Mikel Leshoure set a team rushing record. Prosch was named a first-team All-American by Pro Football Weekly on Dec. 12 and was an Academic All-Big Ten honoree this year.

The big Elephant in the room
LSU didn't want to play Alabama again.

It wasn't fair that they should have had to, and many talking heads and college fans I know said as much repeatedly... Not many people liked the rematch.

I know I know, its all over now.

I just think that's the real underlying issue of such a lopsided game.

Alabama wanted to play LSU badly, and LSU would have much preferred to play Alabama next year in BR.

Alabama didn't recieve any real consequences from losing at home to a division rival that went undefeated.

LSU coaches and players could never admit these feelings in the public eye(as if they had a choice anyways), but if I am an LSU player, why would I want to play Alabama a 2nd time for all the marbles?

LSU played in the SEC championship game (an extra game), While Alabama sat at home fueling their fire.

Alabama won fairly, but the game should have never been played...

When I am old, that's my story

If you want to be the best, you want to play the best. Bama was the best.
