The best college bars in the SEC that are ranked among the top 50 in the nation

Note: not all SEC schools made the top 50 in the country list. Sorry.
The bars and a short commentary on each...
ALABAMA: The Houndstooth....Spicy wings, quick service, and plenty of TVs playing current games keeps Alabama students coming back.
AUBURN: Did not make the cut.
ARKANSAS: Sideways....Less rowdy than some other student watering holes, Sideways boasts an extensive selection of beers on tap, including classics, seasonals, and micro brews, perfect for sipping while shooting pool.
FLORIDA: Did not make the cut.
GEORGIA: The Globe....Those looking for a fun evening out, go to The Globe for fish & chips and a casual pub vibe. UGA students and professors even gather here for meet and greets during the semester.
KENTUCKY: Two Keys Tavern....College kids flock to Two Keys Tavern to guzzle beers and brightly colored "fish bowls" when UK games are on. The drink deals can't be beat, and the in-house jukebox or occasional DJ keeps the music pumping. Make sure to check out the patio.
LSU: The Chimes....Hum-drum bar food definitely isn't on the menu at The Chimes. LSU students watch their fill of ESPN while tucking into crawfish etouffée, shrimp, and oysters at this chill, Southern spot.
MISSOURI: Shiloh Bar & Grill....Broke students can still have a good time at Shiloh Bar & Grill thanks to the killer deals. It's the place to be for Sunday Funday — bring your crew to catch a Cardinals game or order thin-crust pizza and post up at one of the tables on the patio.
MISSISSIPPI STATE: Dave's Dark Horse Tavern....Darts, trivia, and live bands make Dave's Dark Horse Tavern an ideal post-football hangout spot. Vegan and gluten-free visitors will love the varied menu, too.
OLE MISS: Did not make the cut.
OKLAHOMA: Did not make the cut.
SOUTH CAROLINA: The Whig....The Whig has a dive-y vibe, but classes it up with a killer cocktail menu and fancy food offerings. Leather-back chairs and couches provide a plush setting to devour feta pesto dip or smoked Gouda mac & cheese, and you can bet the bartenders will be on their game with the music.
TENNESSEE: Did not make the cut.
TEXAS: Did not make the cut.
TEXAS A&M: Chimy's....Chimy's is something of a sports bar legend in Aggieland, and not just because it's Johnny Manziel's favorite watering hole. The top-notch Mexican eats (and margs, or course) make it an ideal pitstop for lunch before a big game.
VANDERBILT: Flying Saucer....Dainty plates line the walls and ceiling at the eclectic Flying Saucer. You've got your pick of some seriously good brews thanks to the variety on tap — try out off-beat drafts, cans and ice-cold nitro with a banh mi or cheesesteak.

Harry’s Bar in Tuscaloosa deserves mention. Not many are brave enough to make the journey.

seems like they are more worried about the food. I thought this was a bar ranking

Was going to post the same thing. When I was in college, what food a bar served was irrelevant

And lol at a chain making a top 50 list.

If you like a bar filled with hipster douchebags then this is your place. Otherwise it sucks.

Chimes chicken and biscuits with gravy is fricking incredible.

Two Keys has been permanently closed for awhile. Yes it once was a rite of passage for underage UK students and a great gathering place on gameday. Covid mandates and no students on campus forced their hand last year.

Our midtown used to be an incredible bar area but has been decimated by apartment complexes replacing spots. We just lost Grog a few weeks ago which was a premier collegiate blackout destination.

Worst hangover of my life. I still don’t have any idea how I made it home or who took me.

But muh the square is the best college bar scene ever!!!!

The Strip adjacent to campus in Knoxville isn't anything to write home about, especially given the demographic shift over the last decade, but I'll be damned if Cool Beans misses this list yet the Nashville output of an overrated beer emporium is somehow viewed as a cool Vanderbilt bar.

Won’t pretend to speak on any of these, including the Globe where I drank before (20+ years ago).
