Harry’s Bar in Tuscaloosa deserves mention. Not many are brave enough to make the journey.

You can walk to Harry's from some high end condos these days. A lot has changed.

TEXAS A&M: Chimy's

What in the frick??

Chimys is nice for a happy hour after you get out of class but that’s about it. Definitely not going there for the food. Never going there on a weekend.

Paddock’s is #1 spot on Northgate anyone who disagrees can fight me.

When I was there that was pretty much the spot on weekends before around 11:30 then everyone left

Yeah, it’s for sure popular, just not with my demographic I suppose - grad students. It’s kind of got the same reputation as shiner, underage & sloppy.

I didn’t drink too much in undergrad but in grad school I lived at NG Wednesday-Saturday 9PM to 2AM for a good three years, so I also never understood the whole not going out until like midnight thing either. Pregame was always 6-9 at a buddies house then hit NG till the bars close.

Not my Houndstooth.

True story. I have a brick from the original version that I saved when it was being torn down.

Was this list compiled by AARP?

I can not think of one place that I have visited where the wings were so good that I would make a point to come back for. Wings are just chicken on the bone and there are many great restaurants that serve chicken. I have been to some great bars that serve great food, but not just wings.

GEORGIA: The Globe....Those looking for a fun evening out, go to The Globe for fish & chips and a casual pub vibe. UGA students and professors even gather here for meet and greets during the semester.

Has been shut down since covid last March. Don't even know if it's still in business

It was a cool place but Generals or All Good are much better

Yeah, the Globe was never actually a college bar, it was a bar in a college town. There are plenty of others that could have been picked over that place.

Houndstooth being the best in Tuscaloosa gave me pause. Then when I got to the Globe being top bar in Athens I just stopped reading.

I remember drinking at Mean Mike's and the Roadhouse in Athens. Great pubs, then finish off the evening with tracking down the Hot Dog man

Chimys sucks arse. I haven’t been to College Station in a few years but my favorite bar was Dudleys. Free pool, Trivia night, decent shots, pitchers of beer. Not really full of people.

But the beauty of Northgate is that it is so small you could hit every bar ;)

It’s weird to say but I enjoyed every place on Northgate except the Chicken. They all serve a niche. From Sake Bar to the Dirty F
