So does this mean the proposed I-85 expansion in Alabama - starting in Montgomery through Selma terminating in Cuba, AL at I-20/59 - is now going to be I-14 too?

13th or 15 Amendment would be a good name, but the 14th Amendment is badly written and even more badly interpreted.

I'm still waiting for TXDOT to finish I-35 and for LADOTD to finish I-49 throuh Shreveport. I'm not holding my breath on this one. Maybe my grandkids will be able to drive on it.

That will be useful when we secede and take over those military bases

Looks like that can really help west-central Alabama.

Will the new bypasses that are a part of this new interstate bypass the city instead of driving you through it like Atlanta????

its not like this hasn't been discussed for nearly 10 years now, expect a completed i14 with a single lane road through Louisiana.

I like it. It would save a lot of time.

Originally, I-20 was supposed to replace Highway 80 from Meridian to Savannah.
However, Alabama conspired to route 20/59 together to BHM (which was a big mistake).
MS gets criticized for a lot of things but in highway improvements, we are a country mile ahead of AL.
Examples:
US 45 (from the TN line all the way to State Line, AL) approximately 275 miles is a nice four lane highway.
US 84 (from the MS River to the AL line) approximately 190 miles is a nice four lane highway.
US Highway 98 (from the MS River to the AL line) approximately 200 miles is a nice four lane highway.
BUT, once you enter AL all these highways become harrowing, hilly, curvy TWO lane highways. Why? They carry a large amount of commercial traffic as well as vehicular traffic.
Just don’t understand it.
So the new I-14 will be a nice enhancement for Central/East MS and central AL. It will be a win-win for Meridian.

I wonder if it will make the travel from Dallas to Baton Rouge faster. Less time on 49 is definitely a plus for me.

There will be flying cars by the time 1/3 of it is completed
