And still didn't get an offer. Damn...

Bentonville West linebacker Braden Jones created a major buzz inside Arkansas’ Walker Pavilion by recording 4.36 seconds in the 40-yard dash during testing at the prospect camp Sunday morning.

Many observers around the complex and Razorbacks linebackers coach Michael Scherer were highly impressed with Jones’ time.

“He was telling me that was a crazy good 40 and to keep him updated on this summer and getting close to football season,” Jones said.

Jones, 6-0, 185 pounds, started every game for the Wolverines as a sophomore and recorded 79 tackles, 8 tackles for loss, 5 sacks, 4 pass breakups, 2 forced fumbles and 2 recovered fumbles, 1 returned 34 yards for a score. He made second team All-7A West.

Sunday’s camp wasn’t the first time Jones opened eyes with his athleticism. During testing in March at his school, he recorded a 4.47 seconds in the 40-yard dash, a 4.21 shuttle, 35-inch vertical, and a 405-pound squat and 255-pound power clean.

He admits his 40 time at the Arkansas camp caught him off guard.
“I was looking to get anything in the 4.4s, but that surprised me a little bit,” Jones said.

He also recorded 34.5-inch vertical along with a 9-foot, 10.5-inch broad jump. Scherer told him the Razorbacks would be following his junior season.
“He was talking to me quite a bit during the whole camp,” Jones said. “He already followed me on Twitter, so I think he had watched my film, but he was saying they’re going to be watching me this fall and looking forward to watching me compete.”

Getting an offer from Arkansas would help him achieve a lifelong goal.
“That’s been my dream school since I started playing football, so that would be awesome,” Jones said.

Reminds me of that player from Pea Ridge that had better 40 time and vertical leap than Joe Adams.

Not one single division one
offer. Bert you fat bastard!!

4.47 to 4.36 is that a huge jump?

What is average improvement on a 40 time?

Probably the quickness of the time-keepers thumb.

Look forward to him walking on at Clemson then playing a key role is senior year en route to a national championship. And then ready threads 5 years from now on how he ran a 4.36 in Arkansas camp.

I think Sam doesn't slow walk him like Bert did to other recruits in the past. I think he offers him soon.

I think you are right. He probably projects more a safety on college. He’s definitely a kid that can play at this level. Know his dad, and he’s a great fella, so I’m sure this young man is as well.

He can gain a little weight and play strong safety. We need more speed on defense and it fill up an area of need.

From my sophomore year in HS to my Senior year I grew 3-4 inches and added about 30 lbs. Most of our posters probably did the same.

I also got faster, added 4 inches to my vertical as well as becoming more confident and athletically aggressive…

Offer this kid.

He’s 6 foot 180 pounds and runs a 4.36. What more could you want in a safety or corner? Maybe another inch or two but at that speed who cares

My interpretation of the article is this kid will be a Junior this year, am I correct?

A lot of potential. I'm assuming he has decent tackling ability. Use him as a safety and have him lineup all over the field. Like the chiefs do with Mathieu

Speed is great, especially if you can play football. Can he 'play football' to go along with that speed. If not, it's like Lou Holtz said: 'He can get to the wrong spot faster than anyone else.' (paraphrased)

he's "6'0 180" which means he's probably 5'11, 175

He needs to move to defensive back and he's got plenty of time to show out

I still think he would've been a stud had he gotten it together off the field. He was already an electric returner
