LSU Currently Ranked #2 In Recruiting

With NINE of their 11 commits coming from Louisiana. It must be nice to be in such a talent-rich state. Recruiting at LSU is ridiculously easy.
Same could be said of Georgia.
7 of their 10 commits for 2022 are from Georgia.
No in-state competitors.
Compare this to Alabama's last class where only 5/27 signees were in-state. and only 2/7 for 2022
Why does the state of Alabama lag so far behind Louisiana and Georgia in talent?
When you think about it, Georgia, LSU, Texas A&M and Florida have a built-in advantage over everyone else in the SEC. They have hordes of talent right in their backyard. Alabama has the Saban advantage, but it's still hard to beat Georgia and LSU in recruiting every year when they have 10 automatic 4/5 star signees just due to their region.

Because of New Orleans and Atlanta. When you are running away from gang violence that tends to improve your 40 time.

Georgia has it so good, they almost can go instate only. They really don’t have to rely on many out of state recuits.

Really bro? This is your position? It’s tough to recruit at Alabama?

If I remember correctly our last two classes haven't had very many kids from Louisiana. Maybe it's 2 of the last 3. I think it was single digits two years in a row. Someone who follows recruiting more closely can probably correct me. I could look it up, but I'm too lazy.

If you review the last 25 years or so you will find that the state of Alabama doesn’t lag behind Louisiana for high school football talent.

Georgia just has the population game to its advantage.
Tons of traditional power house football programs sprinkled throughout the state that are great at developing kids, and then the booming Metro Atlanta area just infuses so much more talent into the state.
I grew up in Cobb County and it always felt like the major high schools (18 or so large ones in Cobb alone) in the area were straight football talent factories.

Crazy UGA can not develop a good basketball program with all those Atlanta area players

I think a major thing that helped Saban turn Alabama around so quickly was that he had already made major inroads in recruiting SEC country and Louisiana in particular while he was at LSU.

Are you trying to make me feel bad for Alabama recruiting?

Truly a disgusting amount of wasted potential for our basketball program. Atlanta could supply us with never ending high quality basketball players, but UGA will always piss down its leg when it comes to running the basketball program.

Joe McKnight was the best player in Louisiana in 2006.
Are you still upset that he went to USC?

I remember a Bama poster on here arguing that out of state guys might not appreciate playing for the Tide as much as in state guys. And that the team would eventually become soft and lazy. That was probably 2 or 3 National Championships ago

It is a weird take. Bama has done great at recruiting. With technology it is far easier to recruit nationally now rather than just regionally. Saba has done a great job going to where the talent is. Just signing kids from your own state just won’t really cut it nowadays

I don't care that he was wrong, but god damn is that a great hot take
