Yeah, but the glaring difference between LSU and uga is that lsu win national titles and uga doesn't.

If you review the last 25 years or so you will find that the state of Alabama doesn’t lag behind Louisiana for high school football talent.

This. While LSU may have more per capita, it's about equal in overall number with a slight edge to Alabama.

You sure about that?

I don't know about 25 years, but a 2020 article about the number of blue chip players from each state using 247 composite rankings over the five prior years had the following:

Louisiana = 73
Alabama = 59

LINK

Also, you mention the per capita ranking advantage for Louisiana when in reality Alabama's population is not much larger than Louisiana.

State population rankings 2020:

Alabama =24
Louisiana =25

I'm thinking the slight edge goes to Louisiana.

If Dabo's boosters not started competing financially for QB's in ATL. Well, we wouldn't have the cancer that is on this board.

nfl players by state

I guess it depends on what metric you go by, the recruiting rankings, which is what they are projected to do, or the NFL numbers I linked, which is more about how they turned out.

With the NFL numbers, Alabama has 1 more than Louisiana.

If I remember correctly our last two classes haven't had very many kids from Louisiana. Maybe it's 2 of the last 3. I think it was single digits two years in a row. Someone who follows recruiting more closely can probably correct me. I could look it up, but I'm too lazy.

2019: 10
2020: 5
2021: 9

Thank you, sir. I actually thought the two year total for '20 and '21 was 12. But, it's pretty amazing that LSU can also recruit nationally when it needs to. Orgeron really has been recruiting his arse off.

Nobody ever said that Coach O could not recruit. His problem is that he still has to coach all that talent when he gets these guys on campus. That he doesn’t do so well.

Fair enough, looks like it’s basically a push either way.

I agree. The past two years has been crazy with not recruiting in state talent, but otherwise, we obviously recruit heavily in state every year basically.

Obviously LA talent is heavily geared towards the skill positions

After all the times that people have said on here that LSU isn't a national brand, I think it was relevant point to make.

Bigger deal is there is no other major university in Louisiana to split the talent pool.

First of all the state of Alabama doesn’t lag behind Louisiana. Just look at the numbers year in and year out. Saban and staff have just become more and more regional and national as time has went on. The 2008 and 2009 classes has roughly 80% instate.

Comparing either to Georgia isn’t apples to apples.

LSU isn’t a national brand. Can they be? Yes but they have a long way to go before they can put themselves in the same category as Bama, USC, Ohio St, OU, Texas, Notre Dame, Michigan, Miami, FSU, etc. All those teams don’t just win a few games play for and win a title occasionally like LSU does. All those teams I just listed have built dynasties several times over the histories of those schools. Schools that are considered national brands usually are the best most tradition rich programs in their conferences. LSU has a pretty decent record recently but they still have a long way to go in building a program that people would consider a blue blood program. If LSU wants to be considered a blue blood program like some of the schools I listed then they need to go on a run like Miami did in the 80’s and early 90’s. LSU hasn’t got anywhere close to that yet.
