Lol...like did you not see our recruiting class this past season? Tell me how we got...David Diaz-Herrero, Jaden Bradley, Rylan Griffen, Noah Clowney, Dom Welch, & Nick Pringle?
Big Bird, your panicking right now!
Alabama has it's OWN BRAND now and they will get the right system fitters regardless.

Is the guy that said that on Rivals pretty reliable? His remarks following his visit were pretty glowing, I'm going to try and not react until a decision is official.
Would be a bit of a big blow but I have confidence in this coaching staff to pivot and adapt.

Dilione just committed to Tennessee

Yeah, I'm starting to be pretty concerned with this recruiting cycle. Looks like Walters might end up being our only prep signee, and bringing in 4+ quality players from the portal will be a major uphill battle if the last few months was any indication.

Our NIL sucks so bad. It’s not great for football either, but we’re able to still get recruits off name alone with that. Isn’t gonna be that easy with basketball. We’ll still recruit well…just don’t be surprised to see a lot more of these recruitments where our visit blows them away and then an NIL deal snatches them up last minute.

I just want to point out, we had the #3 recruiting class on 247, #4 on Rivals, #10 on On3, and #3 on ESPN last year.
While we haven't landed guys like we'd hoped here's when our guys committed last year....
DDH - 11/1/21
JB - 9/30/21
Rylen - 11/9/21
Clowney - 11/1/21
Pringle - 11/4/21
At this point last year, we had nobody committed. We ended up #3. So you might wanna take a few deep breaths, maybe smoke a joint, and just relax.

Rank him 20 or 200, it won’t matter. Unlike about 99.9% of players I watch, he has genuine NBA potential. Legitimately good get for Tennessee
Slater talking about Dilione.

But we were considered the favorite, or at least one of the favorites, for a lot of top recruits. This year we are not, and we are missing on the few where we are. I would have no concerns if we still had legit shots at 5-6 top ~100 recruits, but that does not appear to be in the cards.

I will say this...name somebody in recent years Barnes has developed and I'll wait!
If a recruit is going to a school for NIL I don't want no part of that here anyway.
Some of y'all just overreacting but I'm good over shoot I believe in our entire coaching staff.

He did a great job with Williams and Schofield. He seems to do better with 3 star level guys though then the higher rated ones.

*You're. And I'm confident we will probably still put together a solid class with our staff. The problem is we should be doing better right now and NIL seems to be getting in the way.

NIL seems to be becoming more and more of a thing with each year. It started off where only the top players seemed to be getting the cut. Now everyone seems to be getting in on the action.
Last year's class was great, and Bradley was an excellent pull considering there weren't any connections there, but we were also coming off of a HUGE year (arguably the best in program history). It's not enough to have great recruiters in this new NIL world. We have to be willing to pay for more than just the five-stars.

“I’m loving Bama. They talked about a lot of great stuff and the whole staff is good. There’s no downside to Alabama there’s a lot of great stuff here."
“Nate Oats is a great coach and they just have a lot of history here. I’m going to continue the process but from what I’ve seen so far from the facilities, people here, and style of play, it really fits me. they’re great people so most definitely an option.”
This was like 2 weeks ago, and he just committed to another school. You can pump the sunshine if you want, but that's at least a tad concerning that we just lost our top remaining target because UT was able to throw more money at him.

Where differ from too many schools today is that we do not offer the NIL deal to sign the kid. We can tell them what kinds of deals current players have, but we don’t “show me the money” to get them to sign. Nobody is investigating or punishing schools - and we know who they are- who just flat pay to sign. We lost a major player to Arkansas like that. Hard to compete with Walmart.

As I recall, Brandon Miller was a heavy professional route lean and NIL helped convince him to go the college route. Nothing wrong with a kid to legally acquire money for their services.

At this point last year (in fact, for most it was MUCH earlier than this point), each of those players were targets that we were hard after. We just lost out on what seemed to be our top remaining target (who is #87 overall) to an NIL deal.
I'm not saying we won't have a solid class, but we'd be extremely fortunate to reel in a top 40 class at this point. You can still win with those type of classes, but it's a tad disappointing that NIL seems to be hindering our excellent recruiting staff.

Offering NIL deals as an inducement to sign is still against the rules.

And near impossible to trace. If I had a kid that was offered a lucrative deal that wouldn't hinder his eligibility, I wouldn't stop him from taking it. It sucks, but as soon as NIL was introduced this kind of stuff was inevitable. Pandora's Box.
