You only get one set of points for each season NCAAT - you dont roll them all up.
Kentucky wins a national title they get 50 pts - they dont get 50+25+15+10+5.
Also - only regular season champs, probably the difference. I'll tack on conference tournament.

I do not like, nor agree with your stance that regular season wins literally don’t count. I find it rather odd, actually, since regular season wins are what put teams in position to be successful in the post season.

Musselman has never won fewer than 20 games/season as a college coach and he doesn't own a motorcycle.

I know. We haven't made it past the Round of 64 in this millenium.
We still have 32 points.

Esteemed poster Tuscaloosa I value your opinion greatly.
But in this matter -

And I count 47 for Arkansas?
** Okay, I see you updated it to 45 points. But why would you give us 5pts for an NCAAT bid, rather than 7 for winning the SECT? Doesn't that make the SECT worthless, since it's an automatic bid to the NCAAT?
*** Nm... I see what you did.

45 pts overall

I'm SHOCKED that a Bama fan thinks regular season titles are better. They haven't won a tournament title since 1991
What a pathetic program

You don’t watch basketball, do you?

That is just not how it works in CBB though, the tournament is king. It doesn't matter how much you put yourself in a good position to win in the tournament if you lose early.

Oh look. Another Bama fan thinks regular season titles are better.
Tournament title gets you an automatic bid. Regular season doesn't. Much more at stake.
Tournament title > Regular season title. The selection committee agrees.

That's freaking amazing considering they got 25 points for a final four

We truly are a pathetic basketball program. With all the talent in the Atlanta area the fact that we can't lock down enough talent to be a consistent tourney team is sad

I don’t think anyone would disagree that tournament is king. But regular season wins aren’t valueless.
By using the OP’s criteria - regular season conference championships weighing more than tournament championships - we see that regular season wins matter. I don’t think it’s illogical to conclude that they should be considered when evaluating the strength of a program over a period of time.
