Saints are rats off the ship now.

I’m sure she’s a very talented reporter.

I think most coaches usually tend to take promotions when they're offered.

It's right there in the OP. Reading are hard.

What are the LSU thoughts on this one? I know the Saints had a nice DL, don't know anything else about Nielsen though.

I'm a little concerned about having two guys that have never called plays. He has definitely improved the DL play in New Orleans. I don’t think we really know what we have exactly just yet.

He’s a great hire. Behind Freeman he was my second choice.
By all accounts is ready for the leap. Has a nasty D line at NC state of all places. Young and relatable. We bring back the whole d line. And bring in some elite talent there.
Besides he just has to be better than dead last to improve.

She is. I worked with her in Tyler at KYTX. She worked her arse off and knows her shite. She was also smart enough to jump ship right before the station became subject of a short lived reality show.

KYTX also had Leila Rahimi who is doing really well in sports up in Chicago. That station had a really strong reporter group back then.
What's funny is the Leila and Jane were actually much smarter with sports than the actual sports anchors but they were stuck doing local news. Shows how hard they worked that both were able to move up out of Tyler they way they did.

Orgeron is betting his job on two first time coordinators after making the safe hires burned him last year.
Didn't the binder say that hiring O at a lower salary would allow hiring star coordinators with the freed up money? If O keeps his job it's going to be because he's actually good at choosing the right up and comers (i.e., Brady and these guys).

So neither coordinator has ever called plays? That's a bold strategy

That's what I've been hearing. But, there is this...
I would have to think that he called plays at CCS.
quote:
He’s not completely inexperienced, though, when it comes to being a defensive coordinator. Nielsen was a co-defensive coordinator at Northern Illinois in 2012. He was also the defensive coordinator at Central Connecticut State from 2008-2009.

Pros: He looks to be elite when it comes to coaching Dline and stopping the run. What he did with the dlines at NC State and the Saints is very impressive.
Cons: I'm nervous about his inexperience with managing an entire defense that includes the secondary. Especially coming off a season in which we were dead last (aka 127th out of 127 teams) in passing defense.
I don't know what to make of this. Could be a good hire, could be an absolute disaster just like last year. Neither would surprise me.

seems like the guy has a passion for development as well as a world-class eye for talent on-top of being able to connect with his players. I think they wanted him before freeman but had to wait on the playoffs.
