Wondering whatever happened to Craig James

At one time, he was on his way to being what Crying Herbie is now, the TV face of college football. Even had an academy of some kind for training broadcasters.
After the “kid in a shed” thing at Tech, he dropped off the face of the the earth.
Thought of him last night after listening to the horribad announcers of the Orange Bowl. Orlovsky is just painful. He could use that academy (if they’d let him in).

Orlovsky is the type of broadcaster that is so bad, he’s impossible to ignore.
James is an outspoken conservative with views contrary to the ESPN narrative. He was one of the first to be taken down by them because of his political leanings.

The answer is in your OP:

But seriously, I'm curious as well.

Still murdering hookers.
Allegedly.
He overplayed his hand. His kid was never in a “shed”, it was the broadcast booth and he went in a closet to snappygram himself. James wanted the Pirate gone and that was his big chance. Tech is dog shite now and West Texas hates him for it.
He ran for Congress later in Texas and people came out in droves to vote for anyone but him. He sulked away and hasn’t been in the spotlight since.

Just after kidintheshed, James ran for the Republican nomination for election for the vacant US Senate seat in Texas. It was a large field of qualified people to choose from, and damned few chose Craig James.

ESPN has got the worst group of broadcasters and even worse bunch of "analysts" that I've ever seen...by far!
It looks like ESPN's financial problems are definitely having an effect on their broadcasting quality.

All of this.
He pissed off the state by getting Leach fired. I hated losing to the guy but most of the state really liked Leach at Tech.
Then he ran for senate as a Republican and lost to Cruz and Douchehurst.
I don’t know how he thought his crybaby antics would play over well with Texas politics but he got trounced and by running as a Republican lost any chance in media ever again. Don’t like the guy personally but he was good at his job at ESPN.
Love or hate Tommy Tubberville, he obviously was a good coach at some points, but he’ll be reviled by ESPN forever because he ran as a Republican.

Craig James ... very good announcer for sure. But also a severe head case.

He’s probably killing a hooker somewhere if I had to guess.

Pretty sure it was his son who is/was the head case.

People get emotional when is their kid, that she’s thing was a bad situation for what it turned into.
Craig James was not good at being a talking head, but was fantastic in the booth. Wish someone would bring him back.

And their crappy apps and website.
And their writing. Something like 75% of their site content is video, every one of which requires watching an insurance commercial. Just lazy.
And don’t get me started on how what writing that DOES exist is increasingly requiring ESPN+.
If not for their stranglehold on broadcasts, I’d rarely have a use for them.

He was politically problematic for the communists at ESPN.

I was thinking yesterday that these were the worst announcers for the "Big" bowls ever. Mike Golic for the Fiesta Bowl? Dan Orvlosky for the Orange? Jordan Rodgers for the Outback? Just bad.

Went into hiding when #metoo gained traction given his whole killing hookers history. Smart move. Sometimes you have to lay low until the heat is off.
