It looks like ESPN's financial problems are definitely having an effect on their broadcasting quality.

It could also be said ESPN's lack of broadcasting quality is definitely causing their financial problems. I watch ESPN for the games. I never watch their talking idiots. NFL halftime I switch to "Going RV" or "Log Cabin Living" for 20 minutes.

James, who lives in Celina, worked Saturday. On Monday, in a one-sentence statement, Fox announced James, who had yet to sign a contract, was out.
It seems the honchos at Fox Sports headquarters in Los Angeles weren’t happy with the hire at their most important regional network. Recall James resigned from ESPN in 2011 to enter the Republican primary for the U.S. Senate seat that ultimately went to Ted Cruz. During the campaign James took a strong anti-gay stance. “We just asked ourselves how Craig’s statements would play in our human resources department,” said a Fox spokesman.

He'll never set foot on a national broadcast again.

reviled by ESPN forever because he ran as a Republican.

Stop with the victim complex.

Tuberville shot himself in the foot because had no business in politics and entered anyways. Has nothing to do with party. His tenure will make him nationally unpopular when he gets eaten alive by the political war machine.

Rice was a major cabinet member for the last full-length Republican presidency and she was on the damn playoff committee.

Playoff committee has nothing to do with ESPN and their clear agenda. Not to mention Queen Condi is a black female that was outspoken against TRUMP.

Your comparison is asinine.

Their lack of financial problems probably stems more from their expenses vs lack of competitive content.

They just don’t carry enough quality actual games. They don’t have NFL on Sunday. They don’t get the big NCAAF games. Very little NHL coverage. Very little MLB games and coverage.
The one thing they get is regular season NCAAM basketball games, which barely matter and probably don’t move the needle.

As was the Republican president she worked for. (And the Republican president before him)

Hell, and both republican candidates in between Trump and Bush.

My entire point is it’s not general political alignment that makes these people nationally unpopular, it’s their specific political opinions.

There are political opinions from the 60s that are no different, and no one bats an eye at it.

My impression was that he was already on his way out and the Senate run was just an embarresing Hail Mary.

You shouldn't s#$t where you eat and he did so in a major way. His kid was back-talking spoiled brat by most every account and James went on a media jihad to protect his precious little baby.

quote:

Emails that emerged later showed Craig James used a Texas-based strategic consulting firm, Spaeth Communications, to leak information to publicly pile on Leach. That included a video played on ESPN’s “SportsCenter” that Adam James took from his alleged exile. Leach later said, “ESPN … was just spewing this stuff that Spaeth and Craig James were feeding them.” As emails and phone messages emerged in the legal process, Craig James came off as an overbearing Little League dad who’d leave coaches lengthy messages complaining about his son’s playing time. In Fox’s 2015 legal filings to get James’ lawsuit dismissed, they claimed: “Leach’s dismissal left many viewers with strong, negative opinions about James’ credibility and journalistic ethics.” (That suit got settled and attorneys agreed to dismiss it in 2016.)

Good read on the whole affair.

I’m not a victim. Tuberville isn’t a victim. Acting like the media isn’t excessively democrat isn’t some fringe conspiracy theory opinion. Political donations and their reporting speaks for itself.

I’m cool with anybody’s opinions. Everybody is welcome to them. I don’t have to agree but I’m also not going to act like the media is some neutral party in today’s climate.

And David Pollack. Lou Holtz before him. The idea that being a devout Christian will keep somebody from a broadcasting career is absurd.

The media and these companies are publicly traded companies (or owned by them) that exist for only one thing - profit.

Acting as though they are an agent of a political party is a conspiracy theory. (You didn’t do this, but others on this board do all the time)
They may have liberal biases, but that’s purely a function of their marketing and demographic experts telling them where the money is coming from.

Let me out it to you this way: if the majority of the 20 and 30 somethings in this country were Trump supporters, you’d see a completely different bias.

It’s purely market driven, and the reason the bulk of the ‘news stations’ (which are also for profit) are liberal is because of no other reason than Fox News’ stranglehold on the conservative viewers.

It’s all capitalism at work, which is why I think it’s ironic that (not accusing you) the people on this website that accuse others of communism also cry about politics in sports programming. Politics in sports program is a direct result of capitalism.
