Dukes reported yesterday morning to expect at least 3 bowl game opt outs, and possibly 5 when it’s all said and done. We know who the first 3 are based on the AL.com article you posted. I guess we will find out if there are more.

Whatever. I expect more to quit after Harsin gets ahold of them. The program needs a mental toughness upgrade.

I wouldn't say the players are mentally weak at all. The current players none have quit in games ever. Not that I can remember anyway.

Gus was a players coach. That's why he's been the best recruiting head coach we've had since Dye. Teams also don't play as physical as AU does and be mentally weak.

Harsin is definitely a different breed. Not sure what type of coach he is towards the players. If he's a great leader of men then he will figure out what each individual needs to feel they are a part of the team. If that means turning the screws down slowly then so be it. It's Harsin's team if he comes in and goes balls to the wall old school Bear Bryant and players leave then that's just the hand he's dealt. We will see how it turns out. Coach Harsin has been at Texas so he knows about high end athlete's they are different as well from a middle 3 star. 4 and 5 star players are pampered from the time they are in middle school.

As a fan I'd love to see a smooth transition because I think we have an opportunity to be decent next year.

They are selfish. That is a mental weakness in my book

And yet now they are quitting before the game has even begun.

I understand the sentiment and typically agree. But this season is just all fricked up. If we are going down that path as the bowl game is part of the season and such then the boosters/AD quit on the team this year by taking their coach away. But if it were Tank and he was a junior and had carried the load for 3 years at AU and would absolutely be the first back taken in the draft would he be a quitter as well if he didn't play in a bowl game that wasn't a playoff game?

And I typically side on the school/coach's side.

You know...it’s literal free agency this year, this is best time for this to happen as we can get transfers and they can play right away.

We can hopefully get some power 5 transfers for depth

I think I will wait until after the "free agency" to see if it's best or worst.

It is time to change the system. First get rid of conference tie ins. We always play the same teams in the same cities.

Realize that if you are not in the playoffs, players will opt out.

Oklahoma State had a player dress but then decided to opt out mid-game

Looked pretty bad. I like D'Eriq King and hope he makes a speedy recovery. There had been reports that he was coming back for his 6th year of College Football next year.

As soon as I watched Harsin’s press conference I told my dad Schwartz isn’t going to last much longer.

I don’t know how the board feels about Schwartz but I’m not a fan. He’s fast but he is not near as good as he thinks he is. A diva for no reason imo. I don’t think Harsin will have patience for that.

He can be an assistant coach for Gus if he wants.

I mean this with all due respect....Have you watched a single AU game the past 3 years? Where in the world is this take coming from? Tell me one thing Flash has done to give any impression he is a "Diva"?

Seth Williams on the other hand....100% Diva. Flash...I dont get it.
