“We seem to get a lot of rumors at this time of year,” Cristobal said. “This is what I can say, I can say that I haven’t been contacted, OK?"

Oregon is a better job. Phil Knight will top any offer Auburn tosses out. Why go to the SECw when you can haul in top 5 classes and have a cakewalk schedule in Eugene

Oregon is lowballing him pretty bad. Cristobal is only making $2.6 million. That’s essentially the same salary Sark and Venables are getting as coordinators. I’m sure if Auburn offers him $4+ million, he will strongly consider it.

And I’m sure Oregon will eclipse whatever the offer is

Yeah, seems like his comments were hinting for them to step up to the plate and finish the extension. Guess we'll see if they do.

And that’s why Kevin Steele is the betting favorite to be the next Auburn HC.

Auburn's 247 site is being fed pro-Steele info trying to save keep our defensive guys from decommitting/not signing tomorrow

Yeah. Oregon already got burnt by Taggart (which was a good thing), but you think their brass is gonna let that happen again? With a guy who’s bringing in top classes? I really doubt it. Oregon is a better job. Oregon has more money. Steele will fill the gap for 1-2 years and we can go through this all again.

Enjoy.

I know Tim Cook goes to games and whatnot, but is he really involved from a financial perspective as much as Knight is?

It's less than that. He had to take a 10% pay cut and forfeit all his bonuses from that number.

Not only that, they were working out an extension and raise a few months back and pulled it off the table for budget reasons.

Oregon is going to lose $70 million this year. The only way they can make a counter to Auburn's offer is if a booster steps up and agrees to pay for it.

That's really all you need to know going forward,
if you believe neither Cristobal or his agent
has been contacted and IMO, the response
reads as honest---then Auburn would only be
used to help feather Cristobal's bed in his contract
extension, with the program's top booster, a man worth over $56-and-a-half billion dollars.

The only reason Mario will stick with the Ducks will be he wasn't really offered the AU job. Football on the left coast is done. Hell the 7A state championship game in Alabama will be close to the number of fans as the PAC12 CG.

This seems like common sense to you and I, but these guys are ultra competitive. No matter what happens at Oregon (outside of winning a national title) he’ll always wonder what he could against the best of the best.

It is not about the recruits, most will not sign.

This is about big time boosters (His name is on the college of business) pushing an Agenda, that Steele is the guy. They pushed we need to lock him in now to save recruiting.

This is posturing,
