OL changed coming

From Gus’ Sunday presser I get the impression that changes are coming to the OL. From who or where I have no clue but Trox and Jones have gotten a lot of snaps in the past 2 games. Maybe they fit in somewhere. Bro Hamm is a little injured after last nights game.
I say frick it and go with some young guys. Manning Hamm and Jackson have been pathetic. Brahms has made 3-4 bad snaps and never looked at the inside backer on their first blitz of the game just went untouched into the backfield. So give me a first half of young guys and 2nd half of the older guys. See who wins out in real football because our scrimmages must have looked like a pillow fight at the line of scrimmage this fall.

Whats even more frustrating is watching other teams execute it so easily.
You guys watch the Bama game. Early in the game, Jones drops back, defense is bringing it, offensive line gets a helmet on a helmet, but that still leaves a backer coming untouched, Najee does not hesitate and sticks him, Jones stands firm and throws a 70 yard TD.
One of my favorite quotes from a coach, a reporter quipped to Saban "Practice til you get it right" and he responded, no "You practice til you cant get it wrong".
I understand the talent gap, but how in the hell can you not count heads and figure out who to put a helmet on, or at least attempt to?
This bunch could not beat out last year, and the second string cant beat this bunch out, putting them in...well be careful what you ask for.

Yeah, that first blitz mentioned in the OP was not even attempted to be picked up by our line. They weren't even disguising it either. They load up 4 guys on the left side of the line and the center went to the right and just chopped his feet and looked around.

Just like every single year. No surprise, Gus cant scout his own team.

Because Gus does not practice correctly. He does not go 1s v 1s. He does everything against the scout team. He does walk through instead of live fire practice drills. Its so stupid and the results show on the field.
Also something Saban does is he puts 1s vs 1s for 25 plays at the end of the Wednesday praxtice this develops your team. Practicing against a good defense is a good thing to see for an offense. We dont do this either and it shows.

Does not matter. There isn’t enough lineman talent. We have the athletes at the skill position but interior has finally caught up to Gus like we’ve been saying for a couple years now.

Thats because we only singed 9 in 4 years. Then we ran off two of them. So we have 7 OL recruits from the past 4 classes

You forgot about the Juco transfers who couldn't make it in the FCS. Gus' go to.

At this point I'm ready to put Pegues in the OL somewhere. Have to believe he wouldn't let DLinemen blow past him

Think his arms are too short but you're right, can't get much worse. I don't even want to open Nix threads because the dude never had a chance Saturday.

Our OL recruiting should be straightforward. We suck. Come and start day 1.

We don't have that stud lineman you need on both sides of the ball.
At least I haven't seen it.
I understand our OL and DL are green, although many are not Freshman.
But you have to have that bell cow OL or DL to anchor those lines down. We don't have that bc of recruiting.

When was the last time we had a legit pass rusher?

Gus can do all the changes he wants, but the fruits of our poor OL recruiting is being shown. We were out classed on both sides of the ball in the trenches. Our DL is soft as charmin.
It's going to be a long short season. I am not confident about any game remaining. Even Pittman has his team playing hard nosed football with no quit. Played a hell of a game vs MSU.
I really like Tank. He has some wiggle, and great hands. For some of the praise Shedrick was getting he dropped that ball right in his hands. I didn't get to watch the whole game yet, but it looks like we are still not using TE's from part of the game I did watch.
Georgia Defense was damn good, but their offense is not great except their OL gave the blocking needed. We got our arse kicked plain and simple and it was a talent mismatch on the DL and OL.

Meh, they all suck and it’s a direct result of awful OL recruiting. Auburn is fricked on offense for a few years.

People tend to get wrapped up in scheme. Scheme only comes into play in close games. When you get dominated, it's because of the lines: OL & DL. Our OL is completely inadequate. It's an embarrassment and has been a LONG term problem for everyone that frequents this board. We discuss it ad nauseam which is what makes it so frustrating that our multimillion dollar coach doesn't address it.

We better be scouring the grad transfer market hard or find some disgruntled talent like Cade Mays.

how about Coffey? Can he walk and chew gum?

I will say, Sat night's performance reminded me A LOT of 2017 Clemson on offense. Just completely overmatched physically and tried to get cute with the game plan around where were overmatched.
That offense eventually got rolling a little bit. We have a 3 game stretch here where we have a chance to find some rhythm.
The defense is another problem entirely though..
