the Davis deal to LSU has been in the works for a few days now.
Cody Kennedy will switch from TE coach to OL. And he is experienced at OL.
When pittman hired Kennedy this was the plan when he lost an OL coach. FWIW!

Cody Kennedy joins the Razorbacks after a brief time at Southern Miss during the 2020 offseason.
He joined the Golden Eagles with new head coach Will Hall as the team’s run game coordinator and offensive line coach. Kennedy had spent the last two seasons at Tulane as the Green Wave’s offensive line coach, where he helped revive Tulane’s offense. The Wave’s running game ranked in the Top 20 nationally each of the last two seasons, including last year running for 217.1 yards per game to lead the American Athletic Conference. This past season two of his offensive linemen earned All-American Athletic Conference honors with Corey Dublin picking up second team honors and Joey Claybrook being named honorable mention. Kennedy’s offensive line paved the way for a school record 3,162 yards in 2019. Tulane scored 65 rushing touchdowns in Kennedy’s two seasons in New Orleans.
Kennedy spent the 2018 season working with Pittman at Georgia as a Bulldogs’ graduate assistant, helping UGA run for 238.8 yards per game and a Top 10 ranking in the final AP poll. Kennedy coached the offensive line at West Georgia in 2016 and 2017. Two of his linemen (Harley Vaughan and Austin Kastl) earned FCS All-America honors in 2017 as the Wolves went 9-4. He graduated from Southeastern Louisiana in 2012 and earned a master’s degree from West Alabama in 2014.

We (Arkansas sports programs) were due for something semi bad to happen. Glad to get it out of the way before baseball postseason starts

Naming Kennedy as OL Coach has a Kurt Anderson feel to it. Talk about a huge letdown.
fricking Randy Clements is available for crying out loud.
But I'm hoping he turns out to be the next Eric Mateos.

It’s a shame we didn’t hire the first Eric Mateos.

I don't get that vibe at all from it. To me it feels like Pittman wants a guy he can mentor in the position instead of someone more established that will push back against his philosophy. Even if that's the case, I don't know how its gonna work out.
Recruiting is the concern but any high talent OL we are on you have to figure Pittman is going to be one of the main recruiters anyway.
If there is one spot to trust Pitt on, this would be it.

Oline shouldn't be in doubt whoever our oline coach is as long as Pittman is our head coach
He's earned that kind of trust

My concern is Pittman has 1 year of covid head coaching. I think we learned from Chad young head coaches need veteran help not more work via mentoring

Andrew Chamblee’s uncle posts on 247 and he posted his about the move:
quote:
Brad Davis…Left to be with his family. His father has been in and out of the hospital. He felt he needed to be closer to them.
Lot more to the story to post right now but he had a really good conversation with my sister. He said Arkansas was the best place for Alex and Sam Pittman was the best in the business. He even said he wasn’t to sure he was making a good work move but felt good about being closer to his parents.

I mean there’s a reason for that lol. He’d still be at Ole Miss otherwise

I might agree if it was any position other than OL. Pittman worked with him in 2018 and obviously believes in him and works well with him.
I’ll give the benefit of the doubt to whoever the best OL coach in the country hires to be his OL coach.

Yeah this guy has been a d1 oline coach before and has worked with Sam in the past. Kurt was an assistant o line coach in the nfl who was hired because bert couldn’t find anyone else. Sam already had this dude lined up and ready so he sees something he liked in the guy

LR Parkview S Jaylon White becomes 12th in-state offer for 2022.

Is he a safety or linebacker? 247 has him ranked as a linebacker

Could probably play either one. I think I’d rather bulk him up and try him at OLB.

Others seem to think he's going to the Sooners.
So I'm hearing that Nico is leaning toward OU and Nebraska. Seems like he's cooled on us.
Then again, who the hell knows.

Weird. Some guy on 247 was saying “we got him” yesterday or the day before and it seemed like folks believed him. I just assumed he was connected based of the mods not whacking it.

Hope he chooses Arkansas.
