I’m not sure where to ask this question but I didn’t want to start a new thread. Is Drew Sanders going to start and is he playing OLB or DE for y’all? Are y’all running a 3-3-5? TIA.

He played MLB in the spring game with Bumper Pool at OLB. We were planning on going with more 4-2-5 this year but then one of our DTs got hurt so we may play mostly 3-down again like last season.

His sideline-to-sideline speed was pretty impressive. I think that’s why they like him in the middle.

I’m a fan of Sanders. He is very a versatile LB and with the potential to be elite. I hope he has a successful career with the Hogs.

Breaking: JUCO DT Taylor Lewis explains Arkansas commitment

quote:

Arkansas received a commitment from College of the Canyons defensive tackle Taylor Lewis on Tuesday.

Lewis will be a late addition to the 2022 class. He is coming off a visit to Fayetteville and had additional opportunities from Oregon State, Auburn Nebraska, Hawaii and more.

"I really felt like it was the whole package at Arkansas, but mainly the coaching staff," Lewis explained. "They won me over with the way they operate, the way they communicated with each other and how they communicated with me. They were real welcoming to me and my family."

Lewis does not know the exact date he reports to campus at Arkansas yet. He graduates from College of the Canyons this week and then expects to head to Fayetteville shortly after and begin his quest to be on the field this fall.

"It's pretty open," he said. "They need a guy to come in and help win games, somebody to play right away and that's all I need."

At several points in time, Lewis' football journey was uncertain. Having gone through the process of going to a JUCO, waiting it out into the spring and now landing at an SEC program, he is appreciative of where the next step will take him.

"It hasn't even really sunk in yet," he said. "It won't sink in until I step on the field. It really is a blessing with the things I went through to get to where I am at. I try to reminisce and think about it, but it still hasn't started to sink in."

One person Lewis wanted to acknowledge as he commits is Sinque Turner, his high school head coach at Chicago Kenwood who he owes a debt of gratitude to.

"Not a lot of people know this, but I had to go the alternative school route and Coach Turner really put himself on the line, stuck his neck out and got me in school. He was really the reason I was able to come back to Kenwood," Lewis said. "He was the only one that stuck with me. He stuck with me at Iowa Central, then College of the Canyons and awas always one phone call away. I wasn't always the easiest kid to deal with, but he gave me his full availability and I want to thank him for that."

247Sports rates Lewis a three-star prospect.

Defensive tackle Taylor Lewis of Santa Clarita (Calif.) College of the Canyons has committed to the Arkansas Razorbacks. Lewis, 6-3, 295, went public with his decision on Tuesday, four days after wrapping up an official visit in Fayetteville.

The Class of 2022 addition chose the Razorbacks over Auburn, Nebraska, Oregon State, Washington State, Missouri and several others. He made official visits with the Beavers and Cougars and was expected to visit Auburn prior to making a decision by the end of the month. Lewis is now expected to enroll at the UA next week and will have two years of eligibility remaining starting with the upcoming 2022 season.

Lewis, a Chicago native, was listed as a sophomore in 2021 when he recorded 18 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and a pass break-up in six games.

He was recruited to Fayetteville by defensive line coach Deke Adams and defensive line assistant Keith Jones.

Lewis is a welcome addition for an Arkansas defensive line that had been searching for immediate help both in the transfer portal and the JUCO market for much of the offseason. The Hogs’ need for additional help increased in mid-April when returning junior Taurean Carter went down with a significant leg injury in the spring scrimmage.

Lewis is Arkansas’ fourth addition on the defensive line since the 2021 season began, joining LSU transfer defensive end Landon Jackson, Georgia Tech transfer edge rusher Jordan Domineck, and Arkansas State defensive tackle transfer Terry Hampton.

The Razorbacks have also landed other transfers in wide receiver Jadon Haselwood of Oklahoma, wide receiver Matt Landers of Toledo, linebacker Drew Sanders of Alabama, as well as two defensive back transfers in Latavious Brini of Georgia and Dwight McGlothern of LSU.

Arkansas also added a walk-on quarterback in Cade Fortin of USF following the 2021 season. With the addition of Lewis, it is believed that Arkansas is now out of scholarships for the 2022 cycle.
