Let's just say he avoids the whole scandal somehow. I've heard differing things from Arkansas (and other) fans; some say he had already lost his drive and it showed in recruiting, so Arkansas would've declined anyway, just not as dramatically. He produced probably Arkansas' best stretch since the 1980s and the West wasn't as good as it is now, so I tend to think he would've won about 10 games/season at least 3-4 more years. Whether he would've gotten over the hump against Bama, idk.

The consensus seems to be that he was on the decline. Sour grapes? Getting drug across a highway take the fight out of him? Who knows.

His recruiting was bad after 2010.

He would eventually be fired. He is nothing more than a very high level offensive coordinator but didn't bother to build any substance that would last here. A flash in a pan coach. Sometimes I wish he never came here and feel like we are punished and cursed forever.

It would be a slow decline and Petrino would find himself not even making a bowl and then fired. He didn't assemble a staff that could recruit and Bobby's personality was very bland which killed him in home recruiting visits.

For all the horrible football that came after his firing, it just wasn't worth those two years that didn't win anything worthwhile like the West division. Sometimes I wish he never came and Jeff Long was never the AD.

Petrino was a qb whisperer. We would have been solid for several more years. At minimum we’d avoided the last 2 hires that were essentially the death penalty.

He would have won some and lost some.

People talk about how bad Petrino's recruiting was but in 2012 we had Tyler Wilson, Knile Davis, Cobi Hamilton, Jonathan Williams, Chris Gragg. No way Petrino wins less than 9+ with them. 2013 might have been a rebuilding year, but in 2014 we had one of the most loaded defenses I've ever seen at Arkansas.

Why don't we talk about Bert as a program destroyer? The offensive and defensive lines of the past two seasons have been completely depleted outside of Agim. In terms of leaving the cupboard dry, Bert has done things Petrino couldn't dream of.

He would have been gone from Arkansas by Joe, but Arkansas would have maintained consistency.

Jeff Long was horrible.

I lived in Fayetteville during this time and as an LSU fan I thought it was hilarious. Long fired a coach for lying to him. He was on the hiring committee for his side piece. What he was doing for the football program you look past that but Long ego got bigger than Alleva’s ever did and cost him the Arkansas job. Keep Bobby and Long would of been golden

He had something going at Arkansas. Probably would have kept Arkansas in top ten for a few more years, then declined.

He either would have ran Arkansas into the ground or left once things got tough.

If he would’ve stayed, we wouldn’t have been blessed with Bert. So it worked out for the best.

In 2012 Arkansas was ranked number eight in many preseason rankings even after Petrino was fired. That team was likely an eight or nine win regular season team and probably still ranked. A drop off from the year before but still a would be solid season.

After that the declined would start unless he stepped it up in recruiting well balanced classes which he did not.

Not in the Saban era, Saban can recruit to his needs and beyond. Thus wouldn't drop off unlike Petrino's sporadic recruiting classes which didn't even fill needs.

It just seemed like Petrino was destined for implosion. It was a matter of not if but when it was going to happen.

I can only imagine the amount of entertainment he would’ve provided had he not crashed his motorcycle.
