Petrino an entertaining guy? If you like watching grass grow, snail racing or bean counting then sure but most likely the debbie downer of the parties.

If anything Petrino was criticized for not being more personable in razorback local events. The 2012 Cotton Bowl was a good example as Petrino didn't take part in any activities and Arkansas was told unless he did so, Arkansas was never invited again.

Still crazy they were in the national title picture in 2011 until Les made Petrino IRL rage quit. After they had a 14-pt lead.

Also who would have gone to Atlanta from the west if they had beaten us? Arkansas beats LSU beats Alabama beats Arkansas. No other losses.

Petrino was emotional and so was the team in this game because a player just passed away earlier in the week. So Petrino took it as an insult to the players when LSU was running up the score. For the first time I saw Petrino crying a bout I forgot this players name when he was at a memorial event. I saw for a glimpse a different side of Petrino.

There was 10 kins left in the game. And lsu ran the ball 3 straight times before the fg attempt. Did you really want a mercy kneel that early?

A echo the sentiment that Petrino would have more than likely flamed out at Arkansas a year or two after he got fired. His recruiting in his later few years were pretty horrible outside a few home state kids.

He is an excellent college-level play caller. There is not doubt about it. Head coach...I think the verdict is still out; which isn’t good for an old fart like him.

I would hire him a offensive coordinator and tell him to only show up on game days if you know what I mean. The kids did not like him, but they did like winning.

I lived in Fayetteville during this time and as an LSU fan I thought it was hilarious. Long fired a coach for lying to him. He was on the hiring committee for his side piece. What he was doing for the football program you look past that but Long ego got bigger than Alleva’s ever did and cost him the Arkansas job. Keep Bobby and Long would of been golden

There is a lot more of why he got fired. Long sucked donkey balls, but you can't say he was wrong for firing him.

Not a question of 'if' with Petrino - question of 'when.' Dude always found a way to self-destruct.

He didn't get fired for lying. He got in some trouble for using money from the school on Dorrell. I think he was buying her a car or something I'm not sure. I think he broke state laws doing something else.

The rumor was that some people from Fayetteville told Long that Bobby could keep his job only if he made changes to his behavior. So Long talked to Bobby a bout these rules and told Long why you are trying to turn me into a monk!? He went home believing his job was safe.

I don't remember but sometime later he got a letter in the mail a bout his termination. Bobby left and tried to get contact with Long but it was too late.

So Petrino was given a change to save his job but oh well. So Petrino started the downfall but Jeff Long killed football here.

He didn't lose his drive. The guy was one of the most motivated people I've ever seen. There is no doubt in my mind that he would continue to win 9-10 games yearly, occasionally competing for SEC championships. The only reason Fat boy Bert had a good defense one year was because of Petrino's recruits. Petrino could find underrated talent.

He lost his drive after he got fired at Arkansas and understandably so. I honestly believe he would have retired at Arkansas. He loved Fayetteville.

The crazy thing is he actually had our highest ranked recruiting class ever on paper with the #16 class in 2009 despite being the person who has liked recruiting the least out of every coach since we’ve been in the SEC. The class turned out to be full of busts though.

I think he was heading past his prime anyway, he kinda underachieved at Louisville with Lamar Jackson and then was awful his last year.

You post that gif, but Petrino was pissed because the year before we mercy kneed on the LSU two yard line because we had already won the game.

The next season, Miles was steadily throwing deep balls well after y'all had the game well in hand.

It was chicken shite of Miles, and Petrino thought so too.

Mercy knee pic from the year before:

Before the firing while he wasn't very talkative, he was very confident and arrogant. That is what you expect from a coach at a major school. After he was fired something changed, one of my relatives worked at a mall saw Bobby. He was checking out and his hands were shaking and didn't say much. This was a few days after he was fired.

In the process Bobby was humbled.

While Petrino didn't like recruiting, he still found some diamonds in the rough. Trey Flowers for example didn't get offered by Alabama or Auburn. Now he is in the NFL. However his staff besides Paul was less than desired and were below average on the recruiting trail.

He needed to upgrade his staff but instead took more responsibilities on both offense and defense. It didn't help that a lot of players were arrested to the point that the year before he was fired, Arkansas won the infamous Fuller Cup which is given to the SEC team with the most arrests.

He underachieved at Louisville because he could never bury the hatchet on his reputation. It got so bad that some high schools banned him from recruiting.

Miles is a scumbag, but the reasoning may have been that in case we lost in Atlanta, we needed as much margin of victory as possible for the BCS. Maybe I'm giving him too much of the benefit of the doubt though. In either case, that game gave Less the notion that he could just play ultra conservative on offense and wait for Mathieu to come up with a big play, worker against UGA, against Bama..
