If we decline further it will be because we held onto Golding too long

The Leach hire shows again that Golding is out of his league in the SEC West. Leach is the forefather of many of the most successful offenses we see in college football.

Yea I dunno about all that, but we need to be better on defense this year with a more talented and more experience unit in the Front 7.

Our defense should be better but I'm not confident.

No way Pete will be the DC for Bama in 2020. Just settle down and let Nick handle. Saban doesn't like to hinder an assistant by actually firing them. Pete must be hard at work looking to avoid the pink slip. It might be after NSD before the change(s) are made.

Maybe you should check his record when he's not playing vs Pac12 and Big12 defenses.

I'll take that bet.

How relevant is that when Leach will have SEC athletes? Leach will have more resources at Mississippi State than he's ever had as a head coach. But, this is about Golding. Get his mediocre arse out of here!

Idk how bad Golding was...with a young defense nit much you can do.

I think, obviously, Golding would be a good for fit at MSU with Leach. I think Pete's recruiting ties (LA, MS, TX), obviously, are a good fit for MSU. And obviously, Pete has SEC experience now. He obviously has a somewhat laid back personality that I think, obviously, fits better with Leach at MSU than with Saban at Bama. And I think, Pete, obviously, looks like a pirate too. Saban should just call Jimmy Sexton and get him to set the wheels in motion.

11-2... key injuries across the board from start to finish. Not many coaches could pull a record like that off under the circumstances.

I'm watching the Alabama/Texas Tech Cotton Bowl - did not realize Danny Amendola was the slot receiver on that team.

Cant call plays to confuse the defense without confusing your own players when they are extremely young.

Yes, that's exactly what we should be saying in our letter of recommendation.

That's not true. At Alabama you have more talent to work with than save 1-2 other schools. If Golding's defense had went 11-2 at Ole Miss or South Carolina you'd be saying something.

Forgive me for being lost but Shaft are you for or against Golding? I am so confused.

My bad. I was referring to Saban. But I really don’t know how Saban feels about Golding.

Well either nick saban wants him around or he can't find anyone better to replace him.

What's funny on this board is that so many fans are CONVINCED that Golding is a bad DC and that or defensive woes are his fault, yet I haven't seen one poster justify this belief with any substantive evidence. It's always something about true freshman ILBs not-progressing enough or some loud nonsense about the defense just wasn't "good enough". Well, that's a shite take.
If you think Golding is a subpar DC, then back that statement up with specific examples of his poor coaching int meetings, poor coaching a\t practice, or poor Xs and Os come gameday. Nobody ever does.
And so this anti-Golding disease that much of the board has is simply bullshite armchair QB nonsense. No, I'm not saying is God's gift to defensive football or some great DC. What I am saying is that our experience and depth on our defensive front 7 has been much, MUCH worse in 2019 than it has ever been under Saban, and it's not even close. The signal caller and the guy next to him were both true freshman, and one was playing the position for the first time - and half our Dline was injured for much of the year.
This is why our defense faltered, and continuing to overly blame the DC is just bad fans in love with the idea that they know best - that they know more than the coach. It's petty, it's stupid- and unfortunately, it will continue. Because many of you are petty.
Our defense will improve when the dude's playing are older and/or more talented - not before, and changing the DC won't change the talent level.
