Dude seems like a perfect fit

O-Line gonna be nasty

Good assistants hired

Morris left a decent cupboard of talent to work with a QB as well

Arky wins 6 or 7 this year, I think Chad was just that bad a coach

It depends if Pitt can salvage anything of the class with some OL and LB's. Thankfully, one of those is his specialty.

Also, really depends who he hires for OC and QB Coach. Those are the big ones that all Hog fans are really curious about

Yeah, I disagree, Arky is not in good enough shape to go bowling next year. Although there is a lot of trolling going on in the Rant over Pittman, I usually take a wait and see attitude when it comes to first year (and Drink too) coaches.

Pittman may turn out far better than a lot of people think, time will tell.

I agree, but I would be thrilled with 5 wins next year. Even with a solid staff, there are glaring holes in this roster.

I have no expectations for any wins the first year. We hitched our wagon to this hire, he's got zero HC experience, and he's gonna need some time. As long as he doesn't look entirely over his head and somehow regresses his second year after only winning two games like Chad Morris somehow managed, I won't throw a fit.

I think Sam gets us to a respectable level...expectation is to get back to the 8-4 level in next 3-4 years

I'm honestly good with an average of 8–4 most years, as long as we can win 10+ on the years where we've had a couple of good recruiting hauls and we're loaded with producing RS seniors. We should have SOME expectations to challenge for the SEC title from time to time, just not anywhere near a yearly basis like Alabama/LSU can.

Not sure about 5 or 6 wins. It is hard to gauge the amount of talent we have, because Chard was such an historically bad coach. One thing we did get is a lot of playing time for the underclassmen. I do expect our defense to be markedly improved just from scheme and play calling changes.

I really like the Pittman hire too. I doubt we go bowling, but I could see 4-5 wins. We should win 3 of our non-conference games and hopefully we can pick up a win or two in conference games between Aggy, Ole Miss, State, ir Mizzou. Two of those teams will also be under a new HC. Here's our schedule. I don't see 6 wins yet.

2020 Arkansas Football Schedule
Date-Opponent
Sept. 5 Kent State
Sept. 12 at Notre Dame
Sept. 19 at Mississippi State
Sept. 26 vs. Texas A&M (Arlington, Texas)
Oct. 3 Charleston Southern
Oct. 10 Alabama
Oct. 17 LSU
Oct. 24 OPEN
Oct. 31 Tennessee
Nov. 7 at Auburn
Nov. 14 Ole Miss
Nov. 21 UL-Monroe
Nov. 28 at Missouri

I hope we see enough progress each year to let him keep building.
Folks, next year is going to be a long season too. Starting off with Nevada, which is not going to be the pushover some may think.
If we win 4 games next year and are competitive against the likes of Ole Miss, Miss State and Missouri, I will consider that a reasonable start.
Anything beyond will be a bonus to me and is something to hope for, but not something I expect in year one.

Unless I am crazy, which I admit I could be...

Kent State was replaced with Nevada for some reason.

I love me some Pittman as well. I dont expect anything next year though. 3 wins is a success imo. Anything more is gravy.

Odom himself will get us the 3 cupcake wins. His hire can't be emphasized enough. That was HUGE.

I'm optimistic as hell, but think it will be year 2 before we really see the payoff.

From where we sit today somehow winning 4 games would be a hell of an accomplishment with that schedule.

2 losses. no chance

we just hired half their staff and they got a new coach this year. we should be competitive here next year.

Bro... Schedule, schedule, schedule

They have 4 wins maybe next year... 3 cupcakes and then you'd have to beat one of the Miss schools or Missouri.

Getting to a bowl would be a gigantic feat.

You'd basically have to sweep Mississippi and beat Missouri or Tennessee or A&M. I'm as optimistic as anyone but there are just plain realities.

Arkansas scheduling ND and Texas as OOC games while in your worst spot in program history does not help matters either.

They should be playing Rutgers and Liberty instead.

0-1... unless you believe Bert coached in 2012

hint: he didn't - it was John L Smith.

You know he will have a job forever if he does that and doesn't divide the fan base somehow.

Everyone knows we need help on the O-line and everyone knows that we need help at LB. But why isn't anyone pointing out how ridiculously thin we are at RB? We have that transfer from one of the Arizona schools. Who I am hearing really good things about. And maybe Spivey if he stays... With Pittman coaching now you would think maybe we could get a stud RB or two? Fix the line and get a really good RB or two and I could see 5 maybe even 6 wins next year.

And yes we need a handful of LBers.. I believe Odom will get it done there.
