Saban: I had a bad feeling after seeing the low energy of the team before LSU game

"Sitting in the locker room before the game, I was really nervous about the way our team looked because they didn’t look like they usually do," Saban said. "They were kinda quiet and not how they usually are and it was concern. You never know how they're going to respond when they go out there and start playing so I think there was a lot of nervous energy and I think there was a lot of anxiety and I think that's really what I was trying to avoid."
"I think once we got in there at halftime and I said 'These are the things we wanted you to do. We didn't do any of those things in the first half so let's just settle down and do those things and do them well and we'll get ourselves back into the game'" Saban said. "And they responded well because there wasn't all this anxiety about what's going to happen if this happens and that happens and all that. You can't think about all of that."

Saban is such a pussy bitch.

So, Saban was unable to get his team ready to play the top ranked team in the country at home?

Combination of
(1) a ton of youth/inexperience who isn't sure of themselves and their ability to do what they are supposed to without thinking
(2) first real big game for that youth
(3) failure on the part of coaches in developing a gameplan that can let them play with confidence, something that has been a constant this season (defensive specific)
Overall a failure by the coaching staff, and it cost them because the other coaching staff was on the top of their game.

With 2 weeks to prepare
AND, with the warrior QB (not being sarcastic) returning from surgery to get ready for the game.
AND, all that bulletin board material with Jefferson talking.
JEEBUS...take the L and move on, Saban

(4) fear, LSU is really good and our guys didn’t want that smoke
Nailed it.
Good post George.

Week 9 and had yet to play a team with a pulse.
But sure, that team deserves a playoff spot.

Bama was just not motivated...

Unfortunately we'd played teams that challenged our defense and succeeded, but we didn't really make any adjustments and I'm guessing just hoped/prayed they'd advance in terms of understanding the scheme at an accelerated rate as the year went on.
They didn't/haven't.

This. All trolling aside very concerning if you are a Bama fan.
It's not all about emotion. Last year Alabama was better but if anything LSU was too hyped for the Alabama game. Orgeron looked like he drank 30 Redbulls in pregame. This year he was a lot more calm throughout the week and in pregame. The emotion explosion happened post game.

Not really. It makes perfect sense as to why we came out flat.

It is - it's the 3rd time in the last 4 big games this has happened.
If it wasn't I'd be willing to give a pass on account of the freshman on defense just not being able to play fast enough mentally against an elite and complex offense, but it happened against UGA/Clemson last year too in the 1st half.
It's a problem.

Dude you have no energy for a game that will (98%) define your division, big impact in the playoffs, College Gameday....even POTUS is there.... and "It makes sense" Bama came out flat?

I don't think we were "flat" as in "meh whatever", I think we were unsure of ourselves on defense because of lack of experience and attempts to install a normal, complex gameplan like we've always done - and that led to thinking and then reacting, which is a deathnail.
It's not the first time it has happened this year, which is why it's pretty frustrating that we just kept trying to put a round peg in a square hole. Probably wouldn't have been a whole lot better with a more vanilla scheme, but at least guys would have been playing at full speed.

Youve got to be kidding me. I’ve seen a lot of excuses from tiders in the past but trying to say it makes sense that a team is flat and can’t get it up for a game vs the top ranked team that the media called a “must win” for bama to get in the playoffs and tide players said they “felt disrespected at an all time high”
