You are correct LSU didn’t have a chance, they were so lucky to win, even ten more seconds on the game clock would have been all they needed! Whew LSU was so lucky

You realize that was an LSU fan being a smartass, right?

I wouldn't call it scared, I'd call it unsure of what the hell we were doing. Which, to be honest, is not new for the LSU game. It's kind of been a constant. LSU is just really fvckin good on offense.

Thats fear in this context. Same as a UFC fighter before a fight. They arent afraid of the other team like we would be against a fricking bear lol.

They are afraid they are going to lose. They are afraid they wont be able to perform. They are afraid they are unprepared. They are afraid they will lose the opportunity.

a) No offense, but maybe playing such a weak schedule had them unprepared for a team of comparable talent
b) LSU"s defensive scheme gave them fits in the 1st half. In the 2nd half they adjusted some.

Yes, I agree. They feared failure because they feared they didn't know what to do.

That's partly youth, but it's also a poor job of adjustment by coaches. Because it didn't just randomly show up in this game.

It probably didn't help, but like I said, we showed similar issues earlier this season. Part of it is just having so many true freshmen playing. Part of it is that we didn't do a good job of adjusting to help them. And part of it is LSU is the best offense in the country.

I don't think the offense was tight or anxious or whatever, I just think Aranda has a few nice wrinkles and we stubbed our toe a bit. Hat tip to Aranda. He stole 2-3 possessions and basically won the game.

Dave is really boom or bust it seems. Some of his calls in the 2nd half left me scratching my head: rushing 4 on 3rd and 19 and especially bump and run on yalls last TD

Yea - he's clearly a genius at seeing something and drawing up a wrinkle to exploit it. He's done that quite a bit. But it does seem like there are other, "everyday" situations where LSU seems to be in something that either does't make sense or isn't executed well.

The coverage on our last drive made absolutely zero sense, especially with our receivers. Just sit in a Chavis Prevent and make us take 60 seconds to go down the field and the game is over.

Exactly, there was TD by Northwestern State (a pathetic FCS team) earlier this season where we had no defenders anywhere near the receiver, incredible

I honestly don't see Saban winning the SEC again. You are going to see less and less of what sustained them... Namely getting mid round juniors to come back for senior seasons.

I totally agree this is a huge thing. It leaves almost zero margin for error with injuries before you end up in a spot like we are this year. Obviously LSU knows this well as they had a lot of it during the 2nd half of the Miles tenure.

This off-season will be big for in terms of who stays and who goes. We could go from having a really solid base for next year to being back at a lot of youth again.

That absolutely finished Miles you are right. We just couldn't replace all that talent year in and year out. Experience too.

on account of the freshman on defense

LSU had several freshmen on defense in the second half when Alabama was trying to make their comeback:.

Stingley
Brooks
Ward
Flott
Ika

Divinity was out, Harris has been out, Delpit played hurt. Stingley and Brooks are freshmen starters due to previous injuries/departures. I can understand fans of a team as deep and talented as Alabama's might give your statement more credence, but most teams often have to play more freshmen by November due to injuries - and usually their freshmen aren't as highly ranked as Alabama's.

"Freshmen" ain't it.

Saban's just not that great of a game day coach. If his system doesn't have players ready to go by game day, he could be in for trouble.

I agree with you again Summer....

But, can you say the failure by the coaching staff was because of whom?

Did this “whom” once again get outcoached in a big game?

'....which is probably why they couldn't stop us in the second half...

but I would agree with you that the freshman excuse isn't that viable at this point in the season, in this particular game at least. The players the played the worst on defense last Saturday were upperclassmen.
