I'll admit I thought this hire solidified LSU's decline toward the shite house and expected our first losing season since the 90s. I was bummed we couldn't get Jimbo Fisher and aggy stole him away from us.

But here we are- Coach O has made LSU football fun again. The man has beaten SEVEN top ten teams since 2016, second only to Nick Saban and Urban Meyer. I'd fricking love to see him win an NC at the school he grew up watching. Thank god for Coach O and thank god LSU didn't hire Jimbo

I called him as the next head coach the day he was named interim.

Was excited too.

Hes outshined every other candidate on the short list.

Herman and Jimbo are trash in comparison.

Herman did one thing. Beat Georgia.

Orgeron did it too, and much worse.

Jimbo is currently hacking A&M to pieces just like he did at FSU

I was a bit disappointed at the time, but I decided to give him a chance. I caught a lot of shite for it over on the tRant too. Thank god we didn't pay all that cash for Jimbo or Herman.

Count me in the "really surprised at Coach O's success" camp. I really judge him by his cover. He just looks and sounds like such a meathead idiot, but the joke is on me. The guy has made all the right moves to make LSU a legitimate playoff contender.

Looking back without revisionists history, it was a totally underwhelming hire at the time and Alleva probably overpaid for him. It's not like LSU was fighting off even mid major programs for his services. O was at the "prove it" stage in his career and I thought LSU could have done a lot better on the surface.

It's turned out to be a good hire, but even as soon as last year it didn't seem that way. He's finally taken a step back and let smarter people coach their groups. He's taken on a manager role and it's paying dividends. I'm not sure if he'll ever win a national title at LSU, but I could see him having Mark Richt type success over the next decade. Gus is on the way out at Auburn. If they strike out on that hire then O will be set up for sustained success. At the end of the day, he's going to be judged by the fanbase based on results in the Alabama game though

It wasn't an exciting hire. We all knew he could recruit, but so could Les. However, what he has shown is his ability to evolve. Something Les refused to do. O saw problems with the offense and vowed to fix it. And he seems to go get the best coaches and lets them coach. I think he learned a lot from his time at Ole Miss. I'm pretty sure USC wishes they would have hired him permanently.

I was ticked.

Finally got rid of HardHeaded and hire someone that seemingly no one wanted.

Boy, was I WRONG!

O’s manner and demeanor fit real well with LSU football.

Need to lock down the Brady fella.

That's been his approach from the start. He wanted to get a new, innovative offense at LSU, and it didn't work out in his first year with Canada. The man has been doing all the right things since day 1, it didn't just start when you think you started noticing it.

Which teams contending in the West is this not true for? Coaches should be judged on championships. LSU is just like any other SEC school, to win the SEC, you pretty much have to go through Alabama.

Pretty much sums up how I saw things. Was tremendously disappointed we did not go for the big name to try to immediately compete with Saban and Bama.

Glad I was a blithering idiot.

7 top ten teams?

Miami, Auburn and UCF last year weren't real top 10 teams.

Texas and Florida this year, also not real top ten teams.

Georgia last year was a great win, as was the 17 win over Auburn.

So two wins over good teams, the other 5 were overrated teams.

In retrospect that must have been one badass binder.

I didn't see it at first. Hell I thought Arkansas and LSU should switch coaches. Bert could grind out wins with LSU talent while Coach O could build up the talent levels at Arkansas.

There were some learning curves involved with the hire but to his credit Coach O has actually learned from his past mistakes.

The only problem is the biggest problem every team in the West has... Alabama. If he can get the Alabama monkey off his back then the sky is the limit for the LSU program.

His ability to put aside ego and get the right assistants in there and allow them to do their jobs has been impressive. He has absolutely learned from his mistakes at OM and corrected them.

Plus, he is THE perfect guy to be the head coach at LSU as far as personality and understanding of the Louisiana culture. The man is living out his childhood dreams and having a blast doing it.

Is O the first D1 coach that doesn't speak the English language? Who translates for him to get his points across to the team and coaches? Its truly commendable how these things get done there.

He has surpassed my expectations. I was not happy with the hire, but was willing to reserve judgement. I think any new hire needs at least 3 years to produce and get his recruits in and working.

But, I think this is all good but if he cannot beat Bama and win the SEC, it does matter. He does not need to do that this year, but I think he has a good chance.

All I can say is that I believe in the binder now. He had a plan and executed that plan.

I see a team playing hard, I see a team improving, I see a man that has learned from his mistakes and I see good recruiting. It is working, so he has my respect. CEO was the coach we did not know we wanted, its fun.
