We gave up over 100 yds against Vandy and they averaged nearly 4 yds per attempt. We all saw last year that run defense was a problem. I honestly was disturbed at times how well Vandy ran the ball and they only stopped doing it because we were blowing them out and they needed to start throwing to get back in it.

We bring back essentially the same front 7 with the addition of some talented freshman. With all due respect to the freshman, this week they play legitimate talent and we'll see how tough they are against the big boys they're about to go against.

My guess is that they run the ball a lot better than people are predicting and this thing stays close longer than predicted.

We run away in the 4th with some cheap Tds to seal the victory but I'll be interested to see how well we improved stopping the run this year.

Their QB Book is their leading rusher through 2 games with 123 yards. I don’t think that bodes well against us because I said his name was Book, not Tim or Cam

30% of their yards came on the last 2 drives in the 4th quarter.....

They had a really really good RB too....

It was the first game of the season, on the road.....

We were also up plenty and had to sit back for the pass....

I mean, come on dude. I don’t know if we are going to be able to handle NDs rushing attack as well as someone like you will be happy with, but this was a stupid fricking comparison by someone who didn’t watch the game or understand how/why the 116 yards (OMG, noooooo) rushing yards came from.....

It depends in part on how the game is officiated. I watched the replay of BYU vs Tenn game on youtube. Tennessee's OL, WR's or TE's committed flagrant holding on a high percentage of their run plays and only got called once or twice. They were tackling defenders, grabbing their face mask, holding them around the neck, latching on to the back of their jerseys, hooking them as they ran past, sometimes three or four guys holding on one play. The SEC officials ignored it.

If these ACC (I believe) officials are willing to allow that, we'll give up a lot of rushing yards.

Wow. We should give up now. Embarrassing numbers against a preseason All-SEC back

And 26% of that preseason all-SEC RB’s 76 yards also came in the 4th quarter when they were down 18-21 points as well.

I mean, that is about what it should be considering it’s 25% of the game

Sure when it’s a close game and our starters are in. Not a 3 TD game where we have 2nd and 3rd stringers in playing a prevent.

Pressure Book from his right side, forcing him to scramble away from his throwing arm. Right side LB must stay home to prevent scramble. Man coverage and one LB should spy on Book. Force ND to beat us without his legs.
By the way, his arm is pretty good too.

The real question is:

Can Notre Dame stop Jordan Davis? I doubt it.

The answer is yes.

As a matter of fact, UGA can stop the run.

If UGA were playing Ohio State, Oklahoma or Clemson I'd worry.

Caveat: A lot of ND rush yards show up as passing yards because of their shovel sweep game. Discipline from the ends will be necessary.

Vaughn is probably the best or second best RB we'll face in the regular season... and we held them to under 4 ypc in the first game of the season on the road...

Meanwhile, ND's leading rusher is their QB. They lost 1/2 of their 2 headed back tandem (the one considered to be the lead option) to injury after losing their leading rusher from last season.

... We decided to keep everything in front of us early so as not to get beat by a TE that is a mismatch and a talented WR.

In the first half, Vaughn had 2 runs total that went for more than 5 yards and only 1 that went for over 10. This definitely seems like disturbingly successful rushing attempts...
