We had no depth in 2015 or 2016. We won a Sugar Bowl and still almost beat Bama again. That's not an excuse

The players who quit and the same players who threatened to transfer if Luke wasn't hired? The same players that support this abysmal coaching staff? No. frick them

You blame the Luke hire on the players? You are a dumbass. The players of course support their coach, the AD and the Chancellor are 100% to blame. Do you honestly think the players would do anything but support their coach? I promise I hate the luke hire just as much as you but it didnt make my brain quit working. Players are going to be emotional and get attached to a coach even if he sucks. It’s up the to AD to cut through that and make hires.

Yeah frick Ealy and Plumlee and Mingo for coming to Ole Miss That will really show Matt Luke.

Also HJJ if you think the players have that much pull to keep a coach you’re a dumbass.

I mean AJ Brown and company literally threatened to transfer their Junior (maybe Sophomore year, either way we shouldn't have listened) year when we knew they were going to leave right after it... do you honestly think Ealy, Plumlee, and Mingo would transfer upon Luke's firing. fricking joke.

You're right, he didn't. But he and several players influenced the hiring decision, dumbass.

Blame the Ole Miss boosters who pushed for Bjork to hire him. Players are always gonna push for their coach. Everyone thought Tyree and Shuler were gonna transfer when AK was fired but Kermit got them to come back. The reason Luke got the job was Ole Miss boosters pushed for him after winning the egg bowl.

No I don’t think they would. That’s why it’s on the AD and Chancellor to make the hire. 9/10 times the new coach comes in and keeps everyone from transferring. That’s why you should be pissed at Bjork and Vitter. Not the old players. The players don’t have any say so in the matter. If you think they do you’re a dumbass.

You must have a short-term memory. They literally threatened to transfer if we didn't hire Luke. I'll say it again, our NFL talent literally threatened to transfer if Luke wasn't hired. I don't have a link to give you, nor do I care. Have fun with OM football. I'm out.

They should have let Luke go after the Egg Bowl win. He probably could have gotten a Sun Belt gig and Ole Miss could have gotten a name coach. Better d in the long run for
Ole Miss and Luke. If Luke 10 years down the road shows he can be a head coach
then consider him.

I just don’t think that people were realistic about the effect the NCAA situation actually had on the program.

Luke clearly is a place keeper to ensure that we don’t fall to a 2-10 type of team and he has done his job. He’s not going to get canned mid season and our two losses outside of Bama are to decent teams by one score. It’s not like we’ve been miserable.

Luke is clearly not the long term coach, and hopefully isn’t the 2020 coach, but his recruiting has been decent amid the situation and kept the program going and we have no Chancellor or AD to do anything about it right now. So patience is what folks will have to have, which clearly many of y’all have difficulties with.

If you really want to point fingers at why we are where we are I think you can go back to the IHl shitcanning Dan Jones.

I hear what your saying. I know they said they were going to transfer. If you think ADs and chancellors take marching orders from college athletes you’re an idiot. Matt Luke wasn’t hired to make AJ brown or DK metcalf happy. He was hire because the AD and chancellor picked him because he went 6-6 and beat state.

Anyone that says there was no better option than Luke is high. You will never convince me there were literally no coaches willing to come here when he was hired.

I agree, but I also agree with the other statement, too. The NC State coach was supposedly in the boat, as we know, but he ain't doing so much now either so there's that.

I mean it's sorta satisfying, but we both just flat out suck. I would love to be 3rd to 4th best in the division.... (sorry for venting, just tired of sucking)

No need to be sorry. I think a lot of us are tired. I just slept it off lol. It is what it is. NCAA got what they wanted. At least we didn't only score 7-10 points.
