On a side note, why didn't Phillips play more last night? Wasn't he supposedly ready to go and then only gets in very late. If he could play late, he could have played early.

From the article, he plans to make no changes to the staff next year. Doesn’t even matter. Why field a team with a harder setup next year?

Rich Rod thinks he doesn’t fit our scheme

You mean the scheme where we lose 2/3’s of our games? That scheme?

The real kick in the balls with this is we will have to pay him to leave and Ross Bjork never will have to answer for any of it. At the end we will have paid a fat loser like him close to 15 million total to be obese and look confused.

There are many things about this situation I’m pissed about, but reluctantly understand and accept. Here’s the one I don’t get:

Why did we offer him this level of compensation? It’s his self-proclaimed dream job and he would’ve obviously accepted far less. Couple that with the fact that literally nobody else was pursuing him and it makes zero sense to me.

Has anyone from our administration ever hinted at why we did this? I get that nobody within our admin would explicitly say we overpaid him, just wondering if anyone has ever heard a someone hint at it or just has a plausible explanation of their own.

I’ve heard that the excuse was that level of compensation was what the market dictated. It’s a shite excuse.

You don’t pay what the market dictates for SEC head coaches for a shitty O-line coach begging for the head coach job to become a head coach.

Because any time you can let it ride with a staff that went 4-8 with wins over an FCS school and three of the worst teams in FBS, you do it

Anyone see that bullshite Facebook post going around claiming Moore needs to be shown grace and how "it's just a game"?

I hope he is so embarrassed he transfers

Two days later and I am still legit embarrassed to be an Ole Miss alum and fan. We’ve lost plenty of games in my life, but none in that fashion.

frick Elijah Moore and frick Matt Luke.

Yeah, I would not want our best receiver to transfer due to one really bad moment and lapse in judgement. What I would like to see is him come back for next season and make that entire season be a sort of "tour of amends" throughout. Catch everything you possibly can, and take it out on the opponent. It's what winners do.

That would be nice. So catch the one pass we throw a game.

Believe me, I get your point, but we did throw the ball 26 times against State. Plumlee or Corral (on the outside chance he stays) SHOULD get considerably better next season. Our receivers would have had several more catches if they just catch the balls that hit them in the hands.

PS - one of the guys I feel the worst for is Scottie Phillips. When healthy, he was forced to share a lot of the carries with freshmen and seems like he was good at catching passes out of the backfield. If anybody had a less than anticipated season, it was him. And there are no second chances for him.
