College football could be moving toward a timing rule similar to the NFL with the game clock continuing to run after first downs.

I was fine with Arkansas & South Carolina joining the conference. They had more of a SEC feel as far as region and culture.

Texas, Ta&m, Oklahoma and Mizzo not so much. But I get it, it’s all about the dollars. These four teams just doesn’t have that SEC feel to me.

No SEC matchups will "go away." Instead, every rotational matchup will play twice (H/A) every 4 years -- much more often than rotationals play in the current scheduling model.

ETA: However, I don't think that yearly rivals breakdown is as good as it could/should be.

We are going to a 12 team playoff. Having LSU, Auburn and Tennessee on the schedule every year will help us more than having Vandy or Kentucky. Even when Kentucky is good it doesn’t mean as much to those in charge as beating a Tennessee team of the same caliber. Tennessee has sucked for years until recently and we still got props for beating their arse so many years in a row.
LSU is likely on a downward tumble with NIL. They are really poor and Kelly is a good coach but isn’t a very good recruiter. When all of Cookie Monster’s players are gone they are going to struggle. Their top booster already said he wasn’t going to keep footing the bill for NIL every year.
