He’s lost a ton of bad weight; I’m sure he’s even stronger now than when he arrived.
I’m very curious how he develops this year. Size and strength only take you so far in saban’s system. If he’s sound with his assignments and gets meaningful reps as a freshman… watch out.

I'd love to see him as a FB in the Jumbo Package (that has disappeared from our playbook)

Im pretty sure the last time we ran the jumbo package, Auburn scored on a 99 yard interception. We ran a run pass option, which was really just a pass play. The big linebacker we had at running back totally whiffed on the block and the barn def end was in Macs face as he released the ball.
I dont think Saban is a fan of it.

Oatis is going to be one of those guys that doesn't even look heavy at 330lbs. His frame is just massive. Can't wait to see what he turns into if he can learn the mental side. There's a reason Saban recruited him since he was in the 8th grade.

That's fair, but these modern offenses lining up in the shotgun on 4th & 1 drives me insane.

Agree on Oatis. At a minimum he's highly motivated. You can't transform your body that quickly and that dramatically without being motivated. Even if he's juicing like crazy, he had to put in a ton of work to accomplish what he did. Guys with that kind of drive tend to end up being really good. Neal is a great recent example of it.

AMEN!
You need a yard or less, so you're going to start by snapping the ball 7 yards away from the line to gain. WTF sense does that make? If you can't impose your will on a defense to move people 1 yard off the ball having the advantage of knowing both the play and the snap count, then maybe you don't deserve to win. Put Milroe under center and tell him to stick his nose in there somewhere and get a yard. Every now and then, I get the philosophy of play action and a quick throw in that situation, but shotgun just has too many negatives to seem prudent. That situation sends me into shivering fits of rage.

Being reported on TI from someone very reliable that Cam Latu has a meniscus injury and will miss the start of the season. Should be back by week 6 (A&M game).

So who do we have left at TE? Oustz and Niblack and that juco transfer?

Injury information is indeed accurate.

All the threads on BOL about Latu are getting nuked so it must be true.

Kendall Randolph is going to be a big factor as a blocker. I would put him in that group.
