- Collins
- Young
- Huerter
- Hunter
- Reddish
That is genuinely absurd.
If this team can show progress and perhaps even sneak into the playoffs... they'll be primed to have a meeting with any top-tier FA, with 2 max slots available to them.
Not too shabby.

You would think Atlanta would be a good landing spot with our young core that they could attract at least one max guy but right now I just want to see how the young core competes. Defensively this team is probably going to be hard to watch at times because of the guards but adding size guys like Reddish and Hunter should improve that and you can funnel guys into those huge guys but this team should be super competitive next year. That said, this isn't a winning playoff team currently constructed. I feel like something is missing to take them over the top. That said, if they add the right pieces this might be the best young team in the league.

They need seasoning and depth, but if the roaster works out this is definitely a playoff team.
Ferry signed free agents he couldn't keep and the ceiling wasn't near a championship squad. They were well coached, but that wasn't expertly maneuvering free agency, the salary cap, and the draft the way the team is doing it now.

Ferry did bring in Bud, who might be the best coach in the NBA. Wish we still had him, but you can’t be mad at wanting to go to a winner.
I actually think this team will be a playoff team this year. The bottom of the east sucks, and we played pretty well once Collins got his feet under him. More development from Huerter to go along with Trae and Collins with the vets we have? We can get close to .500.

They had the misfortune of getting really good at the same time the Cavs became great.

You would think, but I've heard from more than one person in the know that NBA stars don't consider Atlanta because, and I kid you not, this is where all their side chicks are and they don't want to play that close to the drama.

Coming from a current Atlanta resident. There's a reason the only big time free agent ATL has attracted in the last 10 years is a vastly overpaid Joe Johnson.

I've heard this from multiple people as well. Crazy there might actually be some truth to this.
I think Jalen Rose called Atlanta when we're even mildly competitive, "one of the best home court advantages in the NBA." Not necessarily because of our daunting crowds, rather, the players all go out and party the night before games.
Think we beat OKC by 20+ this year. Rose simply got on camera and said, "Just a Buckhead night. Nothing to see here."

Teams that rank near last in attendance and a .59 local tv rating(bottom five in the league) combined with a history that doesn’t include much sustained success rarely sign max free agents . Plus max guys want to be on teams that go well into the luxury tax to win.

2015-NBA Championship
Curry drafted in 09. Thompson drafted in 11. Green drafted in 12. Barnes drafted in 12.
Durant-signed after multiple championships
Iguodala-signed after 47 win season
Cousins-signed after multiple championships
That was a shite franchise before drafting well. No one would go there. After they started winning, they signed great pieces like Iggy, and then the big Fish of Durant and Cousins.
Atlanta can easily become a hub for free agents, and the team has the starting pieces in Trae, Huerter, and Collins. It wont be long before players will be wanting to come to Atlanta.

I feel like we should talk to Houston about Capela. They are wanting to get rid of him for cap purposes. He doesnt cost that much. He is only 25, and he would be a damn good center.

I wouldn't want to play for an organization run by the Atlanta Spirit either. We'll see if a competent owner in Ressler can lure top players.

I completely agree, and the front office seems to be doing it the right way. Luckily, philips is very profitable already from other events, if they can build a brand through the draft, I could see this owner ship going up into the Luxury tax.

Everything I've said about the TV ratings and attendance is fact.
The owners of the Hawks also own the operating rights to "State Farm Arena"

I've looked at photos of the finished renovation a while back, it does look good.
