From a rear end collision??? How fast did that kid have to be driving to kill 2 people by running into the back of their car?!
Crazy. Feel bad for anyone to go out like that. I bet they didn't even see it coming.

And the intersection it occurred is pretty basic and you can see for a ways. Not like it was around some big hairpin curve.
Sad, really.
And I despised "Touchdown Auburn" each and every time, but I really feel bad now for his entire family and his close friends.

Not only that, but the kid who hit them only had minor injuries. You'd think in a rear end crash bad to kill the driver and passenger of the front car that the rear car driver would be seriously hurt as well.

Terrible. Prayers for Auburn and their families

Front airbags rarely deploy from a rear impact, and if the kid plowed into them at ~60MPH it definitely could have caused enough force for catastrophic head and neck trauma even if their seat belts worked properly.
I'd bet money the fricker was texting and driving, further reinforcing my opinion that smartphones should be like alcohol or tobacco and not legal to possess until you turn 18 or 21.

It sounds like he was stopped getting ready to turn and someone plowed into the back of him. If that kid was going 60-70mph It could definitely have killed someone.

My kids aren't getting a smartphone until they purchase it with their own money. I want them to grow up with at least basic social skills.

Can we wait for more information before charging this kid with manslaughter?

Very strange. Hopefully they'll release more info about the crash.

I don't know about that but it's now illegal in Georgia to text while driving, as it should be. I expect that will be the case in every state, eventually.

Florida FINALLY passed the bill to make it illegal soon. It’s long overdue.
Another tragic accident involving college athletics: a Wisconsin assistant basketball coach lost his wife and young daughter early this morning when they were hit head on by a woman traveling the wrong way on a highway. She was also killed. The coach and his young son survived. So sad.

it's been illegal for a while in florida. they just changed it to a primary offense, meaning they can pull you over just for that reason alone. think back to when they changed the seat belt laws 25-30 years ago. they only could cite you if you were pulled over for another infraction, now they can pull you over just for no seat belt.

Actually, in Georgia it's illegal to have a device in your hand.

It's not just for phones. It can be for eating a sandwich, putting on make-up, and other stupid shite I see morons do daily. Long over due.

Are you saying those things are as dangerous as texting or that the new Florida law covers them too? If it is the first, you are spot on. If you’re saying the second, that’s just not true. It covers only electronic devices and has several exemptions for those.
