Against in-state schools.

Statewide radio shows getting slammed with callers saying Arkansas has everything to lose and nothimg to gain after getting throttled by tUniversity of Arkansas at Little Rock, in Fayetteville.

Overreaction or just scared?

There is nothing scary about playing them to me. I just don't see the point.

It is always going to be their super bowl, and will be another midweek noncon game for us.

Literally nothing to gain for the University.

Definitely scared. Imagine if Florida didn't play all of the in-state rivals during baseball season... no way in hell will that ever happen.

Arkansas is afraid of...... Little Rock.

This isn't unlike most major baseball programs. Midweek games are tough. Good for experience for your younger guys, but not much else to gain from them.

Hell, LSU is 1-3 vs McNeese the last 4 years. We do the same thing.

It doesn't really matter in baseball but I would never schedule in-state schools in football or basketball. Most people on this board don't understand the extent to which the U of A owns Arkansas. I'm from Central Arkansas and went to the University of Arkansas and I've never met someone from the state of Arkansas who is actually a fan of any other in-state program more so than they are a fan of the Hogs. I know that sounds like hyperbole but from my experience there's literally not a UALR fanbase. I pull for UCA and UALR. There's no sense of a rivalry and nobody sees a reason to try to create one because everyone knows our state can barely field one major D1 program.

big overreaction. LSU is playing every single in-state school that plays D1 baseball in Louisiana...except Tulane because frick them. That includes:
ULM
ULL
Southeastern LA
Southern
Grambling
McNeese St
Northwestern State
Nicholls State
New Orleans
La Tech

LSU, on average, probably loses two of these a year (although more lately). LSU hasn't lost anything by dropping a meaningless midweek game to one of these in-state schools. This isn't football. The fans freaking out, if they are, are being ridiculous. Losing a midweek game to an in-state school is no different than losing a midweek game to another small out of state school. It's a nice gesture to throw a bone to the other schools in state, and I'm glad LSU does it every year...again except for Tulane

We got whooped by Troy last night.

It happens.

We aren’t concerned about losing in state players to Troy or any other mid-major school in AL.

I mean wouldn't this go for every legit team on mid week games???

part of the game...gives the smaller schools something to work towards and keeps the big boys fresh and gives role players more PT....results aren't a big deal unless you lose more than 50%.

It's Baseball. Even Alabama plays UAB in this when they basically won't in any other sport.

The best way for Arkansas to ensure that little directional schools won't embarrass them, is to never play little directional schools.
