A couple days of ribbing isn't the same as that guy, Costanza.

Sounds like a solid hire. You win the season, not the press conference.
Congrats UA fans. I think he will be a good one. As I said, You don't usually win by winning the press conference, (Saban and Pearl excluded.), you win by getting the right guy.

Are you kidding me?

Thad Matta is a hall of fame level coach.

Made the tournament 13 of 17 seasons as a head coach and has 439-154 overall record.

That is crazy good.

Failed to make it his final two seasons.

I'm not sure LSU is the team that can lecture others on keeping/hiring coaches that were failing to succeed at the higher levels in their final seasons, despite HoF levels of success prior to it.

Can Oats teach players how to inbound? If he can then he is already an upgrade for Bama.

Watch out, Gus is officially back behind the offensive controls at AU, HE is the OC/play caller.

My question:

Is this hire considered an upgrade over Avery Johnson?

Man, they already give me the tight butthole as it is. I don't think I can add a message board thread to texting with my dad about them every night and going to SunTrust 20-30 times. I might lose my mind

Well his offense made Saban's defenses look silly more times than the other way around. Including Nick Marshall setting the all time passing record against any Bama defense. So there's that.

Personally I think so. The risks are negligible (at worst we end up being a 16-16 type team) and the upside is clearly higher than where we were at the end of this season with Avery.

Hard for me to call any mid-major coach with no P5 experience a great hire, IMHO.
